I hope David Cronenberg is involved with the series not just as a Executive Producer.

Since it's HBO, it will start off intriguing but wear out its welcome quickly. It will feature lots of unlikable characters, and each episode will have at least one graphic sex scene that has nothing to do with the story.

Or, am I just thinking of Westworld?

I love Scanners, enjoyed the sequels and Scanner Cop 1 and 2 as well...as with many "reboot/remake" projects, I am cautiously optimistic. I wonder how involved Cronenberg will really be...will he give input? Or will he be more like Carpenter and say "thanks for the check!"

Scanners was based on David Cronenberg's scripts The Sensitives and Telepathy 2000, which he planned to pitch to Roger Corman before beginning work on The Brood.
