your best bet in terms of making big money off the future of blu-ray is Singulus Technologies, ticker is SNG, however it is only traded in Germany and France I believe, so unless you have access to trading in those markets you can't get in.

Masushita Corp. (MC) - AKA Panasonic has the most blu-ray patents.

Sony Corp. (SNE) - 2nd

Don't expect blu-ray to heavily influence the profits of MC or SNE for quite some time, you aren't going to get rich off these stocks anytime soon due to blu-ray, but both are still solid buys due to overall diversity and success in thier many products.

BTW: Stocks to avoid: Toshiba actually toshiba would be an awesome short in this market. it underperforms on every level)

Only buy anything if you know how to day trade and play it. If not, don't buy all at once. Buy on dips, dollar cost average so your cost basis is minimal.

It's hard to judge how Blu is doing by the stocks since Sony, Panasonic (Matsushita) and others are so large that the Blu department could be a considered a small piece of the pie.

Sony - SNE
Matsushita - MC

Both are ADR's which means its a foriegn stock traded on the American exchagnes.

I do not think you can buy stock in blu-ray, but you can in the companies that sell it and produce it.

+1, unless you know what you are doing don't buy hardly anything (gold, precious metals, etc. are the exception, and i would advise not owning miners but the tangible assets themselves). now is not the time to buy a diverse portfolio of stocks and hold, you are guarenteed to lose money as much as HD DVD is guarenteed to be dead in 12 months.

blu-ray is a conglomerate of companies. there is no blu-ray stock. you have to invest in the contributing companies.
