Power Pack.jpg
Power Pack is a television pilot directed by Rick Bennett that aired on Fox on September 28, 1991. It was later broadcast as a television film. It is based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. it was archived composers by Danny Elfman songs used from (Edward Scissorhands: Etiquette Lesson, Introduction Titles) & (Beetlejuice: Travel Music, The Aftermath, Enter..."The Family"/Sand Worm Planet), Alan Menken song used from (The Little Mermaid: Ariel Left Behind) and Mark Knopfler song used from (The Princess Bride: The Fireswamp & the Rodents of Unusual Size). it was released as NBC's Saturday morning special. the cast: Nathaniel Moreau (Alex Power), Margot Finley (Julie Power), Bradley Machry (Jack Power), Jacelyn Holmes (Katie Power), Jonathan Whittaker (Dr. James Power) and Cheryl Wilson (Margaret Power). But however, there's not a home video release after that. i wish they would have it on HD Restoration. Here's the link, it shows on youtube instead: Last edited by Jarod Mighty; 11-05-2022 at 06:00 AM. |

I love the original comic series, at least until it got a bit funky, but they retconned in the end anyway so it's all good. As for the show, I'd love to see it restored, and even released on BD, but I honestly don't see it happening. I thought Marvel was planning to bring them into the MCU eventually, so I have hopes that will happen and that it will actually be good.

Way back in the 1980s and 1990s, Marvel Comics published a promotional magazine (in the size/format of a standard comic book) called Marvel Age. For a few years, Marvel Age ran a column that focused on adaptations of Marvel characters in movies (there weren't many, at that point, and almost all of them were for television), and television shows. The columnist, whose name escapes me, included proposed adaptations that never materialized, or never progressed past a pilot.
Anyway, that column is where I learned about this Power Pack pilot. The column included a couple of photos and a description of the plot. This was, I think, around 1992, so, obviously, seeing the pilot wasn't easy, if possible at all (no YouTube, etc.). I remember the columnist liked it and reviewed it favorably. It was a great column, as the writer had a good sense of humor and was reasonably critical of some of the adaptations (the 1970s Spider-Man television show, particularly, from what I remember). Marvel didn't restrict him from offering his opinions on all of this stuff. He also wrote about that proposed She-Hulk series (or movie?) with Bridgette Nielsen that never progressed farther than a promotional photo. Last edited by dubhousing; 10-26-2022 at 02:09 PM. |
