Default A Haunting in Venice (2023)

Quote:
20th Century Studios has announced the ensemble cast of “A Haunting in Venice,” director Kenneth Branagh’s third effort in the Hercule Poirot films based on Agatha Christie novels.

The new ensemble behind the supernatural thriller film is headlined by Branagh reprising his role as Poirot, with Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Michelle Yeoh, Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Jude Hill, Ali Khan, Emma Laird, Kelly Reilly and Riccardo Scamarico rounding out the cast.

Set in post-WWII Venice on All Hallows’ Eve, the film follows another mystery featuring the celebrated sleuth Poirot. Inspired by Christie’s “Hallowe’en Party,” the now retired and living in self-imposed exile Poirot reluctantly attends a séance at a haunted palazzo when one of the guests is murdered, and the former detective must once again find out who did it. 20th Century Fox Kenneth Branagh Returns as Hercule Poirot in “A Haunting In Venice” (2023)

Kenneth Branagh Sets All-Star Cast For ‘A Haunting In Venice’ At 20th Century

Kenneth Branagh has set another A-list ensemble for his next Agatha Christie adaptation with Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Jude Hill, Ali Khan, Emma Laird, Kelly Reilly, Riccardo Scamarico and Michelle Yeoh joining the cast of A Haunting In Venice for 20th Century. Branagh is set to reprise his role as Inspector Hercule Poirot and will also return to direct the pic. Michael Green adapted the script, which is based on Christie’s Hallowe’en Party, with production currently under way at Pinewood Studios outside of London.

Set in eerie, post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve, “A Haunting in Venice” is a terrifying mystery featuring the return of the celebrated sleuth, Hercule Poirot. Now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the world’s most glamorous city, Poirot reluctantly attends a séance at a decaying, haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets.

I feel pretty lucky to have both this and the Knives Out series continuing.

Looking forward to this. Contrary to most, I enjoyed DotN much more than MotOE.

This sounds great and great cast too! I wasn’t a fan of Orient Express but really liked Death on the Nile so I’m looking forward to this.

Nice. I enjoyed the first 2 films, so I'm happy to see this series continue. I wonder if Branagh will try to establish some sort of closure to this series, or plans to keep going after this film.

If you've seen Nile, you've seen Express.

I for sure thought after Death On The Nile's lackluster reception they'd be done with these but I'm stoked for this! Really liked the first two entries!

Excited for this one. The first two Branagh Poirot films were great, and I think Hallowe'en Party is one of Christie's most underrated works. Looking forward to it!

If the box-office drop-off between Nile and this is as big as that of Orient and Nile (though COVID certainly was a factor), I reckon this will be the last we'll see of Branagh's Poirot - at least on the big screen.

I came here to say the same thing. Very (pleasantly) surprised to hear this is already in production. I don't recall seeing any news that a new Poirot film had even been suggested, let alone greenlit.

Indeed. There's a couple of well known people & some decent actors there, but it's not exactly what you'd call 'an All-Star Cast'. Having said that, Nile was step down from Orient, starpower-wise IMHO.

I love Branagh's version of Poirot & these big, glossy ensemble murder mysteries are right up my street. I'm also completely unfamiliar with the Christie story, so it'll be nice to go into one of these without knowing 'whodunnit'.

Great news. I know they were talking about another one after Death on the Nile came out, but wasn’t sure it would happen with the underwhelming box office, particularly so soon.

Probably a budget concession, especially after Nile ended up being significantly more expensive than Orient Express. Branagh as star/director and some decent names in support is all they need anyway, and hopefully they continue to shoot on film.

Huh, wasn't expecting Halloween Party to be adapted next.

Wonder if they'll keep the victims in this one though.............

No big deal not having a major A List cast, Branagh can carry these movies himself for me. Always nice to see Michelle Yeoh though.
