Feel like this one's going to be bombastic in 3D if they're taking it seriously

Oh wow, in February? I thought it was further away for some reason. If Black Widow 2 gets a 3D disc then this one is very likely to. Don’t let us down Disney Japan!

Today, "shot in IMAX" means 1.90 AR. Shooting in 15/70 IMAX film is ultra expensive so it's very rare it happens.

Evangeline Lily is the best actress still in the MCU, but her hair stylist is the worst in the MCU. This site had warned me about the hair, I thought that I was prepared, but such ugliness still just about knocked me out of my chair.

I will try to convince myself that her fugly hair has the side effect of making the 3D conversion easier.

Likewise, I hope the 3D is strong because the CGI compositing looks really bad in 2D, as from the greenscreening is in a shambles. Here's hoping the 3D will be strong enough to not only fix that but distract from The WASP now looking like an androgynous version of T'Pol from Star Trek Enterprise.

She looked so gorgeous with the bob haircut in the first movie. I absolutely loved her look! But this is just an easy to maintain mom cut. Nothing special. A very boring look.

Hope the 3D will be realy strong in Part 3.

I think we will see what we can expect after seeing the results from the Black Panther 2 3D reviews. If this has weak 3D again, I will have not much hope for further very special and good 3D versions.

They should push 3D very hard. It will be automatically compared to Avatar 2 3D by the audience...

Any 3D conversion of a 2D shot film is nothing more than a cash grab by the studio.

Nothing will compare, 3D wise, to Avatar 2. THAT will hit the media as soon as the movie is released.

Is it reasonable to hope that Avatar 2 will inspire Marvel to want to grab more cash by making a stronger conversion? Feige said 3D was back for the MCU in 2022, but maybe he was just off by a year?

With so much of the live-action portion of MCU films being just actors, and a few props, in front of a giant blue/greenscreen on a soundstage, they could shoot the live action parts in native 3D with remarkable ease. Or so it seems to me, whenever they decide to really bring 3D back

Why? Whatever ratio this film ends up being in, the disc versions will all be letterboxed with no expanded aspect ratio scenes. Marvel don't seem to want to put anything out in 1.78:1 any more, not even their TV shows.

He was referring to a 2nd Black Widow movie. But there are no speculations about if that movie will ever be made. Only that Florence Pugh was hired for 2 more MCU movies.

I’ve seen conversions with more impressive 3D than the first Avatar. Not all conversions are Clash Of The Titans-style cash grabs.

Most Bronze Age 3D conversions are cash grabs but still end up far more immersive and visually interesting than the 2D versions.

Avatar was immersive but I remember feeling disappointed in the cinema at how tame the 3D was. It was a much better experience at home (and far less punishing on my bladder) but as technically impressive as the sequel will no doubt be, I doubt we're going to get the live-action equivalent of A Turtle's Tale where the 3D is so immersive that it feels like there's no screen boundary. Knowing James Cameron I'm expecting more of the same, just with much more impressive visuals. I'll settle for that, though I'm still going to cringe any time anyone says Unobtanium.

this is not true. blu-ray 3d discs for black widow and eternals both had shifting aspect ratio. marvel studios movies filmed entirely in imax (infinity war, endgame, shang-chi, multiverse of madness) are conformed to 2.4:1 on blu-ray 3d.

Eternals 3D blu ray does not have shifting ratios. Also 13thman said "anymore", Black Widow was the last one to do it.

Eternals did have a shifting aspect ratio theatrically and does on D+ but all we got on disc was the letterboxed version.

That's right. Black Widow was the last MCU 3D Blu-ray we got with expanded aspect ratio scenes. Sadly when it comes to Disney the days of us getting the best possible version on disc are over.

Don't you mean Captain America Civil War? As much as i know The Eternals and Thor Love and Thunder had shifting ratio on Imax but on disc they haven't.
