I have a new Sony Soundbar/subwoofer - model is HT-G700
Which options on my Sony blu-ray player should I select? Digital Audio Output - Auto or PCM Dynamic Range Control - Auto, On or Off Dolby Digital Compatible Output - On or Off Downmix - Stereo or Surround Player is going into TV via HDMI, then TV goes to soundbar. Wouldn't you want to keep discrete centre and LFE channels? Leave any downmixing to the bar, it'll also apply it's correct psychoacoustic processing for surround and height effects that way without having to resort to matrixing a 2.0 input. |

Actually it can be set either way. By the soundbar not being surround it's not going to make that much of a difference because there are no 3.1 soundtracks. It never has been which is why I don't understand the concept of 3.1 soundbars in general. It doesn't make no sense.

OK, so I think everything is in order...but when the player outputs a PCM or Dolby track, there is a delay on the soundbar whilst it switches over. For example, the mono tracks on the Eureka POLICE STORY 3 are mono. When I press "play film" on the disc menu, the Fortune Star logo appears, but the sound doesn't come in for a second or two whilst the soundbar switches to PCM. Am I doing something wrong?

Oh dear, it's quite annoying. Is there a way to bypass this, or do I need a different kind of reciever? The sound on the TV's own speakers is rather tinny.

Got a mystery or two here.
When panasonic 4k player is plugged into LG TV via HDMI then to Sony soundbar via Earc, audio is in sync but I can't access Dolby Atmos or DTS-HD When the 4K player is connected to the soundbar then out to the TV, I can get Atmos and DTS-HD, but there is a sync issue. Any suggestions on where the fault may lie? LG TV make is lg oled48a16la Soundbar is Sony atmos soundbar ht-g700 |

OK, I can now get the TV to output Atmos.
But there is still a sync issue despite Earc. What is the best way to resolve the sync at the soundbar? |
