Warner will be releasing Superman III on 4K UHD on April 3rd in the UK, and likely around the same time in the US, and other countries.

Cool. My favourite Superman film by far. It’s basically a Richard Pryor film co-starring Christopher Reeve.

Strange that this would be getting released before Superman II.

Would make no sense to do III without II, so this is probably the first indication the Reeve movies are coming in 4K. Those two were big hits (even III despite the bad reviews). IV...well that's another matter, but if they do the whole run of these, it'd make sense to get them out together.

It is strange, but if it is the only one, I can only assume it's because it's the 40th anniversary of the film.

Maybe the reason the second film isn't coming out yet is because they're remastering the TV cut in HD for its release.

We can dream, right?

STM is still the daddy but I do love me some Superman III. People keep ragging on it being a Richard Pryor movie and I'm like "...and???". I love it BECAUSE of that.

I don't know if III is the kind of sequel they would mark an Anniversary release for as a standalone...I mean it's certainly not that popular, and has been perennially released in conjunction with the other sequels on Blu-Ray (and DVD before it). Would be very strange to see it by itself, which is why I'd bet they're doing a bunch of these (at least II) at the same time.

Why not. If they could find the extended TV cut in widescreen for I, it's certainly within the realm of possibility they could do the same for II and even III. The Salkinds had tons of footage that were put back together in the same manner for ABC's broadcasts of those sequels as well.

I personally love the Reeve "Bad Superman" scenes. He does some great work in there. The junkyard fight between Clark and "Bad Supes" is terrific.

The rest of it is light as feather but I always enjoyed it provided you aren't expecting the first two movies. Reeve seems very laid back and having a good time in the film.

For me IV is the truly wretched sequel that's deserving of its rep, but III has some good moments that are worth revisiting.

Love the Superman v Superman battle (though it was confusing af for an easily confused kid like me), and the bit where Robert Vaughn’s sister was turned into one of the Borg from Star Trek was the stuff of nightmares back in the day.

Superman getting drunk, flicking peanuts at the wall then staggering out and yelling at the crowd...priceless!

Absolutely love this, and think it's had a very unfair rap. So many great things to love about it.

Superman IV on the other hand....

Samesies. The movie is a shambles, but its nostalgia game is powerful for me as it was the first Supes movie I saw at the cinema (heck, it's one of the first times I remember going to the cinema full stop) and it imprinted itself on my goofy little 7 year old brain.
