We've waited so long already, I'm surprised Dark Sky isn't going to release it in Fall 2024 for the 50th anniversary.

I still remember watching cruddy, fuzzy, washed out VHS and TV airings of TCM over the years, not to mention the botched Pioneer DVD from 1998/2003. *All* DVD and Blu-ray (2K and 4K) releases since 2006 have looked pretty darn awesome to my eyes.

The year is wrong in the thread topic. Texas Chainsaw Massacre came out in 1974.

Cool that this is coming out over here, but I'll be importing the Second Sight release.

I'm guessing this will be available September or October 2023? So about a year away.

This is probably their biggest title so I hope they do a nice deluxe edition that’s not too big and has the original art.

Their last special edition was pretty awful when it came to the packaging. It was a tall dvd format dual release (so it stuck out in a blu ray collection) and it was a pain to get the interior digipack out. I preferred their regular release but unfortunately it lost most of the special features.
Sold it a long time ago and never regretted it (got the second sight blu ray after, which had the awesome original poster as a reversible artwork). I'd be very surprised if they make something more appealing than Second sight's future release but i'd be happy to be proven wrong. The more releases for this masterpiece, the better.

How such a popular horror film ended up stuck with Dark sky rather than companies like Vinegar syndrome or Arrow is a shame, imo. VS' new release of Texas 2 is pretty fantastic.
