AWESOME!

Hopefully "Double Life of Veronique" and "Dekalog" will follow sometime down the road.

Dekalog if only to fix up the somewhat shoddy compression, five hours per disc.

Proper 25fps presentations without Criterion's extra "restorative" work on the audio at its correct pitch!

Our first 4K box! $60 seems reasonable with a 50% off sale.

Would it make sense to hold onto the blu set and see how the transfers on these look first? I'm just thinking about the Wong Kar Wai set debacle.

Always do this. I'm cautious on this one.

It's a 6 disc set, so it will include the same 3 Blu-rays you already have (edit: I read the info on the site wrong, the included BD's will be from the new restoration as well). From what I've seen, the new restorations used reference prints for its colors, so while it is certainly different from the previous transfers, it might be closer to how it originally looked. It probably wouldn't hurt to wait and see if it's to your liking though.

La restauration 4K HDR de 4 films de Kieslowski - BLEU - YouTube
In the details section it says the set's Blu discs use the new restoration. The single set will still be sold with the old discs.

Oh, my mistake. I saw it mention High-definition digital restorations for the Blu-ray, and didn't notice they meant the BD-only release there.

Yes! These were huge movies for me when I was an adolescent getting into world cinema. Been anxiously waiting for Criterion to announce their 4K release.

The Arrow Academy (RIP) limited edition set is one of my “crown jewels” for this reason. Correct frame rate and audio pitch beautifully encoded across 5 discs.

I’ve read elsewhere in the forum (Doctor Who Christmas special 4K thread I think) that UHD specs don’t really provide for European frame rate material the way standard blu does by utilizing 1080i as a workaround, hence why “Twice Upon A Time” was a frame conversion with pitch correction on both sides of the pond.

That said it’s also possible that I’m totally misremembering how this works as it’s been a hot second since my last visit to any of the Who threads and almost no other European/UK TV has made the leap to 4K UHD.
