$2B if it gets a China release. Otherwise around $1.5B roughly.

I’m gonna say more than 2 billion against my better judgment. James Cameron has done the unthinkable with his last two movies against all evidence to the contrary. The guy knows how to appeal to a global audience. And if this gets a Chinese release, it could make a minimum of 600-700 million there alone for all we know. If Top Gun: Maverick could get to almost 1.5 billion without China I don’t see why Avatar couldn’t with China. I think right now this movie’s biggest chance at failure would be if it is a bad movie. If it’s good, I think word of mouth will carry it through the winter season.

WW box office has underwhelmed this year so I’m going with under a billion. (But I’m probably wrong and one of the few who isn’t bothered or excited by the release despite trying.)

Opening Weekend: around JW Dominion level domestically

Domestic total: $400-500 million

WW total: Total Wild Card (depending on if China actually gets the film)

Looking at the seating charts, advanced ticket sales look shockingly soft at the moment. 3D, premium format, standard format - doesn't seem to matter. Perhaps the first Avatar movie's cultural impact wasn't that big.

Domestic opening: $140 million
Domestic total: $595 million
Worldwide total: $1.4 billion
