Can't wait to see how Coraline, ParaNorman and Kubo look on HDR, they oughta be reference demo material for any and every screen.

I'm very excited to hear they're releasing another batch other than the ones coming this month. I'm gonna make an effort to get them, Laika is worth it. Though I honestly can't tell if steelbook or standard edition, since both are gorgeous. And standard edition all match together. Logic say go with standard since these aren't limited and you can't get them day 1, buuut.. they'll probably be beautiful on hand.

I think all of the Laika 4Ks will be pretty much Atmos+Vision.

Yes. But for Kubo there was an actual theatrical Atmos mix.
I don't want them to do what they did with How to Train Your Dragon 2 - the Atmos was "lost" in the shuffle between Fox and Universal so they remixed it to DTS:X from the existing 7.1 version. Just hoping they keep it native on Kubo and not remix it from the existing 5.1

You're correct - Fox had the home video assets and issued the Blu-ray before Atmos was on disc, so it just had the 7.1 base layer.
When they turned over their assets to Universal, the Atmos theatrical mix was lost in the transfer.

EDIT - got it mixed up with HTTYD 1 which was Paramount.

Yes, I know - my question is: Is it the theatrical (native) Atmos track, or an Atmos remix from the 5.1 on the previous home theater soundtrack, like Coraline and Paranorman?

By far my favorite Laika film. I was able to get mint copies of the steels for Coraline and ParaNorman last week, so I'm definitely nabbing this steel.
