Gunn/Safran are soon going to take an axe to these increasingly goofy and sub-par animated pieces, as well, I suspect! I checked out after all the New 52-style stuff...and even that stuff was mostly awful compared to the early iterations of these DTVs...

They're not going to scrap everything DC related that doesn't fit their agenda, they likely don't even care that stuff like this exist. These are harmless direct-to-video features aimed at a specific audience that are probably cheap to produce and bring in enough revenue to justify their existence. |

It's just PR speak, they can't have everything DC related that WB puts out be part of one big universe, it would be a disaster just waiting to happen. |

Yes, I'm very familiar with these separate entries and PR speak. But I expect we'll see some streamlining across multiple platforms as their new DCU gets built across mediums. It doesn't mean everything will slide in, but I wouldn't be surprised if we get less "goofy" projects like this one... But of course it's not going to be a multi-media universe where one *has* to take part in every single element to understand the narrative, that would be too much, indeed.

I do want to see this and will pick it up ... but I'm going to wait until Part 2 comes out (or at least whenever the cross-over story is completed) and released on disc, too.
Given WB/DC's new announcements (which I'm excited for, BTW), I just don't want to buy Part 1 to find out that the rest of it is canceled or killed off as part of the new directive, leaving me with a cliffhanger/unfinished story. You're probably thinking - DC wouldn't do that. And my response is simple - few studios out there make as many dumb decisions as the WB/DC. The last decade or so of the Snyderverse pretty much sums up idiocy (though I understand of course that some of the rush-job to the Justice League disaster is due to the corporate WB morons). |
