![]() ![]() https://vinegarsyndrome.com/collecti...ucts/ted-bundy TED BUNDY is part of our Vinegar Syndrome Archive collection, celebrating forgotten cinematic oddities from the video store era. This collection was inspired by our own brick & mortar video store chain, The Archive, with locations in Bridgeport, CT and Aurora, CO. Unique to this line, each hand numbered limited edition release will come fitted in a specially designed, bottom loading VHS inspired slipcase, while also including a double-sided poster. These releases will ONLY be available on our website and at participating indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them. This slipcase edition (designed by Robert Sammelin) is strictly limited to 5,000 units and may (but probably not) be followed by a standard edition in the future. --- Quote:

Never seen but it looks cool. Might snag a copy!
Also, fun fact: this was Eric DaRe's last acting credit before he retired. That's him in the trailer. |

Hey, not fair, he was also, and first by design, an interstate s*rial rapi st. He'd be very upset to see that you were trivializing/minimalizing his aggregate body of work by pigeonholing him into the subgenre of "just" another s*rial kill*r. His legion of copycats that followed soon after wouldn't like that, either. Do better!

It's time to correct this shocking deviant behavior. I think you'll be well pleased. It's not well-known but is certainly not among the lower-tier ilk that VS occasionally pumps out as part of its product range, with solid acting, and good rewatch value. Parts of it have enough detail that it feels like it could almost be a reenactment for a high-quality cold-case-files documentary. It's decently paced, tightly-edited, and packs a ton of true information about Bundy's moves, travels and victims into its runtime.

From the quoted text:
"newly restored in 4K from its 35mm original camera negative!" From the "additional info": "Newly scanned & restored in 2K from its 35mm original camera negative" So which is it? 4K or 2K scan and restoration? Chris |

Yes, and VHS in general still stuck around at video stores in the years after. Blockbuster began gutting their selection in 2001 over DVD sales surpassing tape and phased them out in 2005. I myself recall seeing leftover bins at some locations into 06 and 07.

Mom and pop stores were really being phased out by this time. The family owned stores also seemed like they were pretty slow to adapt to dvd. They were either closing down for financial reasons or because the major chains like Blockbuster and Hollywood Video were buying them out. It was probably an easy choice for many of them to just take the offer by that point. Nowhere near as many people were regularly renting in the 2000s. The quoted year was around the last year that vhs was still the 'dominant' format and dvd was really gaining a lot of momentum. Rental stores tended to be fairly empty during this time from what I recall compared to the 90s and as mentioned were probably more likely to be chains. The only good thing going for the next few years was Blockbuster's sales for like 4-5 movies for $20. Oddly enough, I'm pretty sure I got the dvd of the movie from this thread from one of those old sales.

Man, VS wasn't kidding when they said they'd be dropping some slashers on us in 2023. Here we are on just Day 2 of 2023, and bingo....a true-story slasher, and actually one that's done quite well. |
