Holy crap!! I figured this might roll out somewhere down the line, but that was lightning-fast. I guess shout anticipated imminent renewed interest in the whole franchise and grabbed up the 4k license to this as fast as they could. Count me in. George C. Scott was a beast. He alone legitimizes this 4k purchase, for me.

The question is will they include the original 2.0 Stereo track included on the Arrow release or use the same 5.1>2.0 downmix that appeared on their past blu ray which has no separation.

If you’re following that line of reason it’s still EXORCIST 3 because THE NINTH CONFIGURATION would then be the second Exorcist movie.

I was never quite happy with either the Warner or Shout BD. To me, the compression and color was iffy on the Warner. The Shout disc skin tones veered too red, contrast felt pushed a little, and there was a little EE baked in. I'm hoping this release nails it.

The sound issue for this one is pretty important, I think. The Arrow release with the original 2.0 track was outstanding and the 5.1 on the other releases was a poor substitute.

I wouldn't be surprised if they just recycled the existing disc and then devoted the UHD to the theatrical cut, but it's hard to tell with Shout. They've gone the hybrid route for Snyder's Dawn of the Dead (despite not making the effort for Lifeforce, lol). Of course, this is another thing entirely with the Legion inserts being VHS-quality.

If they magically found a real version of Legion, I'm in. If it's Theatrical only in 4K, then I'm fine with what I already have of this title.
