Default Shakma (1990) Roddy McDowall

There was a Limited Edition (3,000 only) Release of Shakma by Code Red on May 26, 2015, although the PQ is really good I still think it's time for a Collector's Edition Release with a new scan from Scream Factory, Kino or Vinegar Syndrome.

This movie's pretty terrible, but kind of entertaining. I'd be happy with it just being available for cheap through Kino in the same edition like a lot of other Code Red releases. It doesn't deserve to be forgotten, but a special edition for frickin Shakma seems like a bit much. This was one of the slower sell-outs in the Code Red catalog if I remember correctly.

It's not even sold out, still readily available from Screen Archives.

I've had it in my wishlist for a long time, have never pulled the trigger since $30 is a bit much.

Yeah, I'm pretty content with the current edition. A movie about a killer baboon sounded like it would be right up my alley, but it honestly was a bit of a bore. Still, I'll keep my copy and maybe revisit in a decade or so.

Everything Code Red released sold slowly because it wasn't easily accessible.

That's been the hold-up for me also. Screen Archives has three Code Red titles I want, but they're all overpriced. I'm also very interested in Primal Rage, but Demon Dave gets a kick out of ignoring the topic when he's asked about a potential re-release.

They could've cut twenty minutes out of this movie easily. It's an 80 minute concept stretched out with gratuitous shots of people just wandering halls and stairwells.

This was (and apparently still is) on screenarchives, not just Bill's bigcartel site that was only up sporadically. It still hasn't sold out. Stuff like Island Claws and Girly and Don't Answer the Phone (yeah I know those three were Scorpion, but same deal pretty much) and Neon Maniacs and the first release of Savage Streets and Spontaneous Combustion and whatnot sold out several years ago with that same (or worse) distribution and pricing. This seems to be a deeply unpopular movie even compared to the rest of his catalog, down there with the likes of Warlock Moon or Assault on Paradise. A bunch of his stuff like Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker or Savage Streets or whatever got cheap re-releases from Kino, I wish that would happen with this. But my guess is the fact it never sold out probably didn't have them falling over themselves to release it. I know 30 dollars was too rich for my blood with this movie's rep and code red's usual QC, and it still is.
