Thanks for the post. The presenter seems to be a bit of an LG fanboy.

A zillion times brighter and blacker than the very formidable Panasonic's flagship ZT60.

The only new TV a plasma TV owner should buy is an OLED as they are both emissive digital displays, which is the best the best display technology for image quality performance for detail and contrast.

Does every panning shot in 24fps still stutter without motion interpolation?

@Rottweiler30, not that I've noticed, but I'll now look more closely when the camera pans when playing 24p content.

Default The LG G3 OLED Launched With A Huge Bug — Update ASAP (FIXED WITH FIRMWARE UPDATE)

QUOTE

"If you’re lucky enough to have pre-ordered an LG C3 OLED or LG G3 OLED from LG before their wider roll-out to stores like Best Buy and Amazon, make sure you download the latest firmware update, as it’s going to completely change the way you see your new TV.

The firmware update version 03.01.19 changes the auto-dimming feature so that darker scenes with little action don’t slowly become darker over time."

We were LG's first dealer to receive the G3 and they all have the latest 3.01.19 firmware.

One of my favorite LG product management gentleman spent most of the day with us today. We reviewed the few enhancements to make the G3 the best it can be. The items we asked for can be achieved with firmware updates and I expect a new firmware update to come shortly.

With that said the G3 is a significant upgrade in digital video display performance and the enhancements we asked for are very minimal. We're nick-pickers that look very critically and want everything to be as perfect. The 7 G3s we've personally opened and carefully examined are very close to what you would get from a professionally calibrated.

Please watch our two day deep dive into LG's G3 and S95C.

LG just shipped us the very first allocation of 55", 65", 77" and 83" C3 and the 77" and 83" G3 OLED TVs!

We've had the 65" and 55" G3 for 2 weeks and all of our clients are loving this new 2023 G3 OLED TVs.

My 65A1E that DNICE did is still kicking like new with 3400 hours. I guess if it kicks the bucket i will have to try a newer OLED.

I wish LG would add HDR10+ to their flat panel screens. Consumers prefer a flat panel screen that has both Dolby Vision HDR and HDR10+ from one display. This LG G3 OLED screen comes in sizes up to 83 inches, however it would be interesting to see a shootout comparison between the Samsung S95C OLED series and the LG G3 to see which display is better.

Select quotes from Sound and Vision magazine review

“All of LG’s OLEDs, including the G3, are WRGB. Until recently all OLED sets added white elements to the RGB for increased brightness. To put it simply, they aren’t QD-OLEDs, the latter now available in the flagship OLEDs from Samsung and Sony.”

“QD-OLEDs employ Quantum Dots and no white pixels, which is said to improve color saturation at very high brightness levels. But it could be argued that the visible differences between WRGB OLEDs and QD-OLEDs, everything else being equal, will be subtle on most source material. We haven’t yet experienced a head-to-head shootout between an LG WRGB OLED and a new QD-OLED.”

“The G3 is equipped with a TV tuner for receiving ATSC 3.0 (NextGenTV) over-the-air broadcasts up to 4K. Its four HDMI ports are all specified as HDMI 2.1, one of them labeled for eARC or enhanced Audio Return Channel.”

Hey Robert! I just watched the YouTube video of the unboxing on the G3 series at your store and just wanted to ask where can the stand that you are using be purchased? I've heard that the optional stand you can get from LG tilts the TV on somewhat of an upward angle which I'm a little leary about in viewing quality.

Thanks!

We like and recommend Sanus VSTV1 for 55" - 65" and the VSTV2 for 77" and larger G3 TVs.

Thanks for the recommendation.
Sanus seems to suggest the VSTV2 for a size of 65inch and larger. But do I understand you correctly that the VSTV1 will work with the 65 inch model as well?

Yes, Sanus' VSTV1 is perfect for any 65" TV, but they are not available as Sanus and our company are sold out. We're scheduled for the next allocation in early December.
