Hopefully they announce the 4K + 3D Japanese version soon too. Although I'm not sure how many more mediocre Marvel movies I can spend $80 on... self respect will kick in eventually... right?

A big wake up call for MCU to alter their tone and direction.

Well the tone varies a lot from film to film and kind of has since the beginning. Arguably, I think the biggest thing missing since Thanos got clapped is consistency, and you can apply that to so many aspects of the series including tone.

The tone of this movie is pretty crap, and its origin as a Rick and Morty writer’s script explains a lot, its TV level writing. But I have liked a lot of the stuff post End Game, it’s just not as consistent as it used to be and feels like it’s missing a solid direction for now. Still, really loved MoM and BP2.

When it comes to the films for me, I loved No Way Home and really enjoyed Shang-Chi and Eternals (honestly) because they were new/different. Black Widow was alright, and Black Panther 2 was good enough for how they decided to proceed with the film's story. But Doctor Strange 2, Thor 4, and Quantumania were all major disappointments for me in how they handled their characters and plot. I was so hyped prior to each one releasing, thinking each film would make up for the last (BP2 being an average exception). My expectations are now tempered for Guardians of the Galaxy 3. When it comes to buying these films, I last bought Far From Home and got No Way Home on Bravia Core (hoping the extended version gets a physical release). With Disney Plus, I don't really feel the need to purchase these "sub-par" Phase 4 and 5 films, especially since Disney Plus gives you IMAX enhanced versions as a benefit. I'd rather put that money towards other 4K UHD titles. But who knows, if the Multiverse Saga ends up being really epic, hopefully a Saga Collection set would be released.

What does that even mean? "TV level writing"?

I’ll clarify: the writing quality between your average animated (or otherwise) TV series and your average blockbuster movie is usually very different. This felt like a long episode of an average quality comedic TV show. Not up to big screen standards.

It’s unfortunate that bradnoyes didn’t understand the concept, but hopefully they learnt something today!

Any chance this gets a 3D release anywhere? I don’t like most Marvel 3D but these movies are a blast in it.

Spillover from the Movie subforum, I’m guessing.

I’m gonna go with Walmart since that pin matches the DMI Exclusive freebie.

I loved the first 2 so much and I absolutely despised this one. I really want the new steelbook because it's absolutely gorgeous but I will never watch this again so it feels silly to buy it when I've already skipped a couple others recently I didn't like either. Probably just skip it with so much else hitting.

Did you not pay attention around the theatrical? The movie got panned by critics (by MCU standards, same score as Eternals) and also had the biggest drop off ever for a MCU movie. The general sentiment around it is far from perfect. I don’t always agree with critics but very much did on this one. It’s kind of crap, especially compared to the first two Ant Mans which are great. The Rick and Morty writer clearly wasn’t talented enough to write a full length movie script. And considering the quality of Rick and Morty post season 2, a Rick and Morty writer is the last person I’d hire to write a big budget blockbuster, for reasons that now seem to be clear lol

It’s almost certain to get a 3D release in Japan. Since Black Widow, the MCU has only been released in 3D (with 4K combo) in Japan, but it’s about $70-80 so it’s spendy.

I agree. It's not that different from previous Marvel movies.
