Question Alexander Revisited -- Is it worth it on Blu-ray?

I'm thinking about buying "Alexander Revisited: The Final Cut" on Blu-ray Disc sometime this year. Although I saw the mixed reviews concering the movie and I was wondering if anyone out there would tell me if it's worth adding to my Blu-ray collection. Thanks!

Basically, its not Troy or 300. There is nothing but a ton of dialog and Jared Leto and Colin Ferral touching and screwing each other. There is a nice battle scene near the 2 1/2 hour mark. I didn't think it sucked as bad as others think it did. Its half way decent.

Thumbs down

Horrible movie and not good for Family Audience due to too many **xuality. Not even close to Troy, KOH or 300.

The PQ was just a tiny bit better than the horribly smoothed PQ in Troy, but still nowhere near what you want.

The revisited version on Blu is worth it if you have enjoyed the past versions. This version puts everything that Stone shot into it, as he originally wanted.

As I said, if you liked any of the previous versions, you'll enjoy this one as well. As far a being a family movie, neither 300 nor Troy are "family movies". Some people can't handle even a hint of homosexuality but will sit their 5 year olds in front of graphic heterosexuality on the screen.

Default Boring Movie

Everytime I put this movie on to watch I end up turning it off after about 1 hour. The movie just isn't interesting unless you want a history lesson.

I haven't seen any of the extended or directors cuts, but this movie has the not so pround distinction of being the only movie I've almost walked out of at the theatre

I hate the fact that they splitted the movie on two BD25 because they wanted to put it on 2 discs like the hddvd version.

Also the movie was really not that good! (my suggestion avoid it unless you really like it! or if the though of seeing Colin Farrell in a wig arrouses you :P)

You're stronger then I am I guess, I did walk out of the Theater at about the 2 hour mark. Absolutely one of the most boring movies I've had the misfortune of paying to see. Dialog, dialog, dialog. I've seen better documentry's on A&E. Might make a good coaster or mini frizbee.

Like someone has mentioned above. The movie is not as bad as the critics made it out to be.
PQ is very good.
It's a two disc set though.
Too bad they couldn't put the whole movie on one disc.

I guess I'll be the voice of dissent here. I watched this on HBO HD a while ago to see just how bad this movie was. Lo and Behold, not only was the movie not bad, I thought it was spectacular. The movie is a biopic, not a war movie like 300 or Troy. It is not an action movie. I found the movie enthralling from beginning to end and every cent of the 150 million spent on this is on the screen. The Hanging Gardens scene is amazing. This could have had no battle scenes and I would have been satisfied but the battle scenes are very well done. The political aspect of the film is also interesting. As for the homo stuff, well, that stuff was pretty normal back then and there wasn't a whole lot of it in the film. People made it seem like this would be a gay snuff film and there's barely any of that going on. Also, I don't think people liked the fact that Alexander was portrayed like an insecure human being. I think people wanted him to be Patton or William Wallace when that was just not the case.

I, too, thoroughly enjoyed this film. However, you must be prepared for an afternoon's or full evening's experience. It is long. So that having to utilize two disks gives the viewer a nice break. What's most significant is that the PQ is quite exciting and fulfilling.

I enjoyed the movie at the theatre. I haven't watched my copy on Blu-ray yet though.

Didn't like it that much, I ended up fast forwarding a lot of it, as there are sections that are a total snooze. Rent it and see what you think before buying it.
