Default OTHER BRANDS: Share Your Custom Display Settings

This thread is intended for members to share their custom picture settings for all OFF BRAND model TV's.

To help make life easier for others...please try to include (but not limited to):

TV Model Number?
Weather it's an ISF Calibrated setting or Disc calibrated setting?
What Input Connection this setting is used for? (ex. HDMI, Component, Composite etc)
What device is connected? (dvd player, bluray player, cable tv ..etc)
What kind of room lighting you have? (dark, dim, bright etc)
Any key features that are turned on or that should be turned off?

Additional Info: *Calibrate Your HDTV*

*Please do not criticize settings being shared...it is a courtesy to those who cannot afford an ISF calibration or do not own a calibration dvd.

*Please also keep in mind that using someone else's settings may look good but it does not necessarily mean it will be ideal for your viewing pleasure and may require some tweaking.

*It is also NOT recommended for anyone to go into the Service Menu to make any adjustments.

Default Dynex DX-LCD32

DYNEX DX-LCD32

Ok, I used a calibration DVD with the HDMI connection only...this will give you good color for a dvd source, but may or may not ideal for the PS3/Xbox...but you can always tweak it.

Room lighting is dim to dark...

first be sure to set color temp to 'Warm' (I believe its in the "Feature" or "advanced picture" setting, cant remember which)

Contrast - 65
Brightness - 48
Sharpness - 4
Color - 63
Tint - G3
Backlight - 1

...also, I found the Remote code to make this DYNEX work with a DISHNetwork remote...code #720.

Try seaching "avsforum vizio plasma" on either yahoo or google, the good chaps over on the televisions threads on AVSforum have calibration data for all TVs.

I have a REGZA 42HL167, but the THX Optimizer feature found on Star Wars I (and other THX movies) works for all HDTVs.

After loading the DVD, select Option, and you'll see the THX Optimizer icon, select it and it open.

It does help to order a pair of the THX Optimizer Glasses, they have special lens for adjusting the intensity of the primary colors.

Default Help Optoma

No Optoma. Aren't they really well known for their projectors?

I have the Optoma DV11 (U3 in Taiwan) PS3 via component cables. HD compatable, but not HD It will do for now, it's really for work not home.

Problem: Color is very red, when I adjusted tint for I am legend, Will Smith looks right but then the corn fiield looks gray.

There is a setting for TrueVivid - Red, Blue and Green Gain and Red, Blue and Green Offset (6 things to adjust) Also there is brightness, contrast, sharpness, saturation and tint to pick from. I'm used to these sttings not the RGB gain and RGB offset.

With these extra settings I'm not sure where to start messing around. I will pop in a THX disc and try that but I fear the same thing will happen; adjust tint to make the redish tinge go away and other colors will wash out.

Anyone have this Projector DV11 or U3 by Optoma?

Does anybody have a preference on how to adjust the settings of an AOC LCD? Also, is it suggested to leave the dynamic contrast on or off? Personally, I think it looks a kind of artificial when it's on, but when I turn it off it looks worse and I don't know what to do with the settings after that. It seems I've been able to make it look a little better. But I don't think my eyes were made for this and I'm tired of messing with it. I'm sure if I mess with it enough I might develop an eye for it and be able to make my own judgment and preference, but in the meantime I figured I'd come on here and look around and ask around. Thanks.

Paul

You're definitely right about the "warm" color temperature. I just realized that mine had been set to "cool," and that blue tint really detracted from image presentation/quality, imo. Watching A Bug's Life again right now (watched it just a couple days ago) and it looks fantastic.

glad that helped wilky!

...watching film material its usually best to set to warm as the movie industry does a fairly good job at applying industry standards.

For broadcast television, cool might work since colors are usually all out of whack from channel to channel to begin with.

crackinhedz, do you have Adaptive Contrast under Advanced Video Settings set to On or Off? I just now toggled it to off and boosted my brightness a couple notches, think I like it better. Also toggled the Noise Reduction to Low.

-Epson 8700ub projector on Da-Lite Matte White screen (1.0 gain)
-Calibrated with Spears & Munsil Calibration Disc using Sony BDP-S350 over HDMI

THX color mode
Brightness: 2
Contrast: 0
Color Saturation: -6
Tint: -1
Sharpness Advanced: 5, 7, 3, 2
Power Consumption: Normal
Auto Iris: Off
Epson Superwhite: off

I had change the player's video mode from Normal to Theater to get the correct contrast levels. I may redo the saturation and tint because squinting with the blue filter for so long really strained my eyes. My room is painted yellow/gold (see gallery).

I have a Sylvania 42 inch 1080p lc420ss8.

Had it since 2007, would like to upgrade to 3D in mid-2011.

The settings I have it at are

Picture Mode:Dynamic
Brightness:30
Contrast:45
Color:36
Tint:0
Sharpness:0
Color Temp.:Neutral

I recently ordered a calibration disk, so my settings will change.
