Disney Haunted Mansion (2023) [Never in 3D - conversion cancelled]

Haunted Mansion is receiving a 3d conversion by DNEG, but that is not known because it is not being advertised on the site(Not anymore).

But this guy in charge is still working since October.

It seems that DNEG is only posting projects that they are sure are done.

Looks like they are working on Fast X(100%) and The Flash.

Maybe it was removed from the site because it was cancelled. 2023 is the year of cancelled 3D sadly.

I don't think it's cancelled but we'll just have to wait and see, because I remember DNEG hyping their 3D conversion process on Haunted Mansion on their Instagram stories a year ago, so it just can't go to waste.

The people who did the conversion for The Colony were excited after they watched a screening of the 3D edition before it got cancelled. It can go to waste as it has in the past

Hate to keep bringing bad news but just got one of those confidential letters and..... NO 3D available.

This is incredibly short sighted on the part of Disney….this movie BEGS for 3D! I mean just look at the trailer for godsakes…Knowing there was no 3D I was hoping for poor reviews…but guess what?….reviews are hugely positive and the reviewers were as surprised as any to realize this is actually a fun & greatly entertaining movie with some actual real scares topped with a message for the younger crowd on mortality…so needless to say, this make the lack of 3D even more frustrating!

The scares could have been awesome in 3D

Some of these fan-made conversions that people put demos out for are pretty amazing.
My guess is by this time next year you will be able to use an AI application to generate any movie in 3D you want.

Guess we'll be seeing less 3d even at the theaters with these studios looking to cut costs due to their money issues.

That might be overly optimistic but it will definitely be possible in the not too distant future…

This actually has quite poor reviews. I’m guessing that was part of the decision to cancel the conversion, and maybe last minute VFX/reshoots/late edits that have also been leading the charge with cancelled conversions lately.

Really disappointed about this one in particular. There's been a spate of cancellations, and some bothered me more than others, but this is one of those movies that could've been so spectacular in 3D.

I just want a good old-fashioned 3D spookshow thrill-ride. Looking at those shots of axes flying at the camera, ghosts and skeletons flying around the graveyard, it's such a shame. It's the perfect movie for 3D.

They lost a ticket sale. I know a lot of people on this board only care if a film ends up on 3D-Bluray, but I saw Disney's last themepark adaptation Jungle Cruise in 4DX, and that was an incredible experience. I was hoping this would get the same treatment. Major disappointment on this one.

Haunted Mansion | Official Trailer - YouTube
You are repeating what I wrote days ago…

Meanwhile, I can report that the 4DX experience was a super fun!

Lots of cool effects including a surprisingly high number of water effects…when the ax gets thrown toward the camera a quick burst of wind blows out of one of the little nozzles on the headrest (there are 2–one on the left of your head and one on the right) making it feel like the ax whipped by your head!

And when the chair starts moving on screen your seat moves with it almost like the Disney ride itself but much more energetically…

A ton more cool effects bring this movie to life (pun intended!) but at the end of the day it feels like it could have benefitted even more with 3D…as it stands the 4DX presentation will be the pinnacle for this movie…but how unfortunate & sad that it will only last a few more days as it’s 4DX run is very limited for some reason…

Experience it while you can mere mortals!

The only reason I ever went to a 4DX screening was for the 3D. Sometimes the added effects are fun, other times they get on my nerves, but without 3D I simply wouldn’t bother.

Make sure you go see Meg 2 in 3D and 4DX. Meg 2 is the perfect film for 4DX.

Disney movies The Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny, the recent crop of DC movies like Shazam 2: Fury Of The Gods, The Flash, the Universal movies like Ruby Gillman's Teenage Kraken & now The Last Voyage Of The Demeter to name a few, it can't be a coincidence that all these movies bombed once they cancelled the 3D for them or either movies that should've been in 3D and or promoted as some kind of visual must see theater experience. I've noticed that most of the movies that have been huge box office successes since the pandemic are movies that offered moviegoers some kind of visual experience weather it be movies in 3D, movies that were especially made for the big screen/IMAX that went beyond the typical generic 2D movie experience from Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage, Dune Part 1, Top Gun 2: Maverick, Oppenheimer, The Meg 2: The Trench, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem.

This would have been great in 3D.
