Hey all,
got a strange issue with certain Universal releases of the following TV shows on DVD, and the Sony DVD player model number: DVPSR510H. First off, I keep one of these players around as they still have legacy DVD features, that most Blu-ray / UHD players have dropped with DVD backward compatibility, and it also gives me a dedicated player for older formats. Anyway, the following discs give me a strange issue with this player: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (original complete series) She-Ra Princes of Power (original complete series) Voltron (original complete series) The issue is, when putting a disc from any of these series in the player for the first time after power on, or if there is a disc in the player on power on, the disc doesn't load correctly. It will go through the loading process and then just sit there at the DVD player home screen, no errors, or anything. If I take the disc out, and put it back in, it loads fine. If I load these discs on any of my 4k UHD players, they don't have this issue. I'm wondering if Universal did something to these particular discs that the player doesn't like as it's a solid player, and plays anything (including these titles) they just need to be loaded a second time to actually start playing. I'm leaning toward a disc design issue, as all the above titles have the same issue in common, it's only with this player, all other DVDs work the first time, and these mentioned discs don't have the issue on newer players in DVD backward compatibility mode. Thanks for your time, if anyone can shed some light on this strange issue, please speak up. Thankfully I can still play my discs without issue, I was mainly curious as to why these require a second load to play on this particular player vs just loading the first time. |
