I assume there's very little chance of the 48fps version making its way to home video? I missed that despite springing for a full IMAX 3D screening that wasn't shown in the promised format.

I don't think it's in the disc spec.

I didn't like the movie at all but it's a bit sad to know that anybody who loved it will probably never be able to watch it ever again the way it was intended to be watched, with both 3D and HFR. If I was a fan I'd probably pick up both 3D and 4K version but would most likely not be fully satisfied with any of them.

Weren't only parts of the film shot with 48fps?

Correct, not a home video format, so can't be put on disc.

Release date info is wrong. It's out on 26 June (25 June is a Sunday).

Yep and it was a jarring mess, Cameron should know better

Didn't bother me so much. Parts of the film looked video-y but I assumed that was because they needed to use more lightweight/portable cameras in those scenes. Anyhoo, I'll only be getting the normal blu-ray so all these fps considerations don't apply to me.

I would at least have liked to have seen it, given I spent the extra time and money on getting down to an IMAX theater for it.

I saw the remastered version of the original Avatar with the couple of 48fps scenes they put out (at the same cinema incidentally) and I thought it looked quite good.

Cameron in one youtube interviews said that HFR in Avatar 2 only benefits 3D screening of the movie, after seeing it multiple times in IMAX 3D and then later seeing at home at 24 fps from VOD release I fully agree on that.
'Flat' 4k 24 fps stream on OLED tv looks great and and keeps beloved cinematic feeling of the movie and I totally remember which scenes were HFR at cinema in 3D but without 3D these same scenes in flat home representation would look too much like smooth video game, at least for me.

The whole film is technically in 48fps but the 24fps shots were doubled, it was a pretty interesting idea to essentially have a variable frame rate but I get why they're not putting it on disc too.

Something tells me that theatre chains who invested heavily in 3D will probably be featuring the Avatar movies on a frequent basis.

While I'm grateful for the livelyhood of the local theatres, I'll stick to just the one 3D/HFR viewing.
