I'm having a very strange issue with recognizing the Atmos track in my setup.
TV: Samsung QE65Q90RAT, firmware 1401 (as I understand it's the European version of QN6590R) sound bar: Samsung Q990B, firmware HW-Q990BWWB-1010.039 Console: Sony Playstation 5 PS5 connected to TV via HDMI Soundbar connected to TV via eARC with HDMI 2.1 cable TV settings: - Sound: -- Expert settings: --- HDMI-eARC: Auto --- Output: Dolby Digital+ --- Atmos compatibility: ON - General: -- External devices: --- Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC): ON --- Input enhancement: all devices marked ON Symptoms: When using Smart TV apps, the Atmos track only shows up in HBO Max and Amazon Prime. It's not showing up on Netflix and Disney Plus. During the few days of me playing with this setup Netflix and Disney apps recognized Atmos only once. Beats me why, cause after turning the TV off and on again, the options disappeared. However, when I use the same apps on PS5, Disney Plus displays Atmos. Netflix still does not. It seems strange to me as my PS5 is connected to the TV and not to the soundbar. Everytime an app shows the Atmos track, soundbar confirms as it displays the "DOLBY ATMOS" indicator when playback starts. The sound from the PS5 goes to the soundbar via pass-through (the option on the tv appears automatically and is greyed out). For the Smart TV app, I can select the audio type that comes out manually, and I only have PCM, Dolby Digital, and Dolby Digital+ to choose from. The pass-through option is greyed out and I can't select it, only the previous three. When playing movies from a USB drive, Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD and any DTS-type tracks are not recognized and the TV does not send them to the soundbar. I have no clue what to change in the settings or they way the devices are connected so that the soundbar fulfills its role and decodes sound formats not supported by the TV. Can anyone help me fix this? |

I'm sorry for this quick and incomplete message.
As far as I know, Netflix doesn't support Dolby Atmos anymore. *****Edit****** As of July 9th, I noticed Netflix is supporting Dolby Atmos again. ****EDIT **** I recently learned something of my setup, which may have caused me to give incorrect information. On my TV I have 3 digital output options. PCM, I have this selected most of the time. Auto and pass-through. I've just noticed depending which option I have selected before starting Netflix will have Atmos or Spatial audio Last edited by superpacman; 07-11-2023 at 05:43 AM. |

Try an eARC chain of PS5 -> soundbar -> TV because the PS5 is connected directly to the TV in your current setup.
Your soundbar doesn't support 4K video passthrough with Dolby Vision 4k at 120hz, but the PS5 doesn't even have Dolby Vision - so that's ok. You should also consider this if you're connecting a 4K disc player. eARC chain of 4K disc player -> soundbar -> TV Last edited by ctujackbauer; 07-12-2023 at 02:55 AM. |
