According to HD Movie Source, The horror/comedy The Blackening will be getting a 4K release from Lionsgate on August 15th. I saw this one in theater a couple weeks back, an thought it was a pretty fun movie. It leans more into comedy than it does horror though, so keep your expectations in check there.

The Blackening follows a group of Black friends reunited for a Juneteenth weekend getaway only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a masked killer who forces them to play a twisted board game by his rules, which they soon realize ain’t no motherf****** game. The Blackening skewers genre tropes and poses the sardonic question: If the entire cast of a horror movie is Black, who dies first?

I hope a release comes to Europe soon but sadly nothing has shown up yet.
Lionsgate seems to be pretty bad at releasing their UHDs in Europe. Maybe another studio has the rights in Europe and can release it like what happened with Prey for the Devil.

Not even a Blu-Ray release for this right now is on the horizon. Don’t even think it played in theaters in Europe either.
Blind bought this because a few friends recommended it. Loved it! I didn't see it in theaters because it just seemed... corny. It was executed well, IMO and had really good random funny moments
I bought it on DeepDiscount so hoping I get it soon. It comes out here in cinemas today but I can’t see it there so I’m glad I got the 4k which I wouldn’t think will get a uk release

Lionsgate always knocks it out the park with their releases and it looked great. I mean this is pretty much the black version of Scream, it’s funny, it’s meta and it’s satire. Is it wrong that I had to put on the subtitles though?

Not really, if you couldn’t understand the accents then it’s fine, I sometimes put on subtitles if I’m watching a movie where the accent is strong.
