Thumbs up Value Electronics 2023 TV Shootout Evaluation event

We settled on the date and most of the planning for our September 30 - October 1, 2023 TV Shootout. This will be our 20th year for our TV Shootouts that is open to the public.

We just signed the lease at the same NYC facility we've used for the past 4 years. It's called "The Company, at 335 Madison Ave, NYC. The Company is luxury building that is across the street from Grand Central Terminal.

We have the entire 7th floor with a large conference room, full private restaurant, and a city block long outdoor balcony where we'll be serve beverages and some hors d'oeuvres.

I'll post our press release by the week of August 28th that will list our panel of expert judges and the list of the TVs that will be competing in the 4K and 8K TV Shootout Evaluation events.

It's also likely that I can have a small group of A/V enthusiasts to attend in person. My sponsor partner, Dealerscope magazine who takes care of most of the costs will charge a small fee to cover the breakfast, lunch, dinner and beverages that we serve to all of the attendees.

All attendees are also invited to our Press Conference at the end of each TV Shootout where we announce the results and crown the new "King of TV®"

I am so, so happy to hear this. Seeing other industry people is all good but I really enjoy meeting the people who love this stuff as a strong interest.

Looking forward to this! Although I would love to attend live, the fact that we can catch this livestreamed and/or rewatching later is a wonder of modern technology, lol. Thank you, Robert, for continuing to put these together year after year. Looks like a great panel, and hopefully we learn some interesting things!

Since the 4K list is limited to the 65" size, there won't be any Sony mini Led in their range. too bad.
I would have liked a mini Led comparison of all these brands (Hisense, Samsung, Sharp, Sony and TCL). Missed opportunity.

We will also have a minimum of two and likely three 85" MiniLED TVs on display to be reviewed by themselves so we can all see the differences between these new premium 85" class TVs.

At this moment we are confirmed to have Sony's 85X95L next to Hisense's 85UX.

This is listed on our press release with lots more information.

Other than day 2 being our 8K TV Shootout Evaluation event we have few special nice plans. Here's just a little of what you will see and learn about at the 8K TV Shootout.

One of our judges is one of Hollywood's top well respected Cinematographer/Movie Director, Phil Holland who will present on what we can expect for the future of 8K and some very interesting technical elements of 8K HDR that are not commonly discussed.

Phil Holland is creating new Native 8K HDR content specifically for our presenters and panel of judges to use to help analize each of the picture quality attributes.

Here's the link to Phil Holland's Bio.

Near-black flickering issues have been reported and demonstrated on all G3 units.

With that problem, it would be fair that the G3 will be left behind the QD OLEDs. Anything else with such a problem at WRGB would be unacceptable.

Simply put, QD OLED is technologically superior as it does not depend on of a white subpixel.

On the panel discussion it was very briefly mentioned. MicroLED is still a few years away from becoming a main stream avilable TVs.

Thank you Kirk_Out, so glad you watched the live stream!

We have some very nice plans for tomorrow's 8K TV Shootout Evaluation event with a special guest speaker.

Also when the 8K TV ballots are all handed in and they move to the committee that tabulates the results we'll have a nice bonus evaluation. I brought Sony's 85X95L and Hisense's 85UX, two of the flagship premium 2023 85" 4K QD MiniLED TVs.

We'll position the two 85" TVs next to each other and the judges and our 4 professional calibrators and all of the attendees will discuss their opinions on the image quality and overall performance of each TV.
