I'm looking at the Amazon B2G1 deal, and 300 is on there. Now, I have 300 on SD DVD, and I hear it's not much of a difference between that and the BD version. I do not have the capability of enjoying the uncompressed sound from the movie (due to incapability of the receiver), so with that in mind, is it worth the upgrade?

can't comment on the sound, the pq is great, the grain drove me wild but after calibrating my tv properly it is not that noticeable, if grain bothers you i advise renting first to see how you like it, but overall i thought it had great detail at 1080p.

The PQ is pretty good on 300. There's some website with comparissons to show how much sharper the Blu-Ray/HD DVD is compared to the DVD. For the people who think that it's not worth the upgrade from DVD, you may want to look into purchasing a better TV or getting yours calibrated propperly.

Edit: AH HAH!! Here's the thread and here's the actual site. The difference between the two is significant, PQ wise. I haven't heard the DVD audio, but I haven't seen a Blu-ray yet that didn't completely destroy its DVD counterpart in the audio department. I really don't know what there is to be disappointed in . . . Last edited by BStecke; 02-12-2008 at 08:17 PM. |

I don't get what all the fuss is about with the grain ruining a movie. The grain is there to make the film look gritty and dirty like the soldiers in battle. Along with the high shutter speed that was used, the grain adds to the action and the stylized color to give the feel of the Bronze age. I have both the DVD and the Blu-Ray versions. Get the Blu-Ray. Not just the picture quality is worth it but if you have a system that could play back the loss-less audio, it's well worth it.
