This set looks good. I've liked everything I've seen from him. Is the linked site a good one for ordering to the US?
Thanks |

Yes, it is kinda wild. I think the only site in Norway that lets you buy BDs from other countries is the National Library, which is the one linked. If you enter an address in the USA they will also remove VAT.

This is how it looks when I asked to calulate the price for shipment to the USA.
You can see it is actually cheaper to order this to the USA than to a Norwegian address. Their other releases are also English-friendly, I think the most interesting releases for international audiences are the Vibeke Løkkeberg set or their collection of every scrap of available film from Norway before 1920. They also included all existing photos from lost films. The silent film BD is kinda neat for all collectors, Løkkeberg might be a more acquired taste. https://www.nb.no/nettbutikk/produkt...eberg-blu-ray/ https://www.nb.no/nettbutikk/produkt/stumme-filmspor/ nasjbib.jpg Shipping is flat at 159,- so if you find anything else interesting you will not pay more in S&H. Just ordered this set, i'm sure it has gone down in price since you first informed me about it.
I'm sure it was NOK 899 before shipping, now it's 719.20. Cost me £65 with shipping now instead of the £80 it would've cost before. |

I received my set today.
Did a quick check on some of the films and the transfers look outstanding. One minor problem though. When I checked the disc with Kitchen Stories & Factotum on it there were no issues with Kitchen Stories but Factotum would stop or not fast forward or move chapter to chapter. This was on my 4K Panasonic Blu Ray player set to Region B. When I checked the disc on my Sony Blu Ray player set to Region A no issues whatsoever. I suspect it is simply that the player didn't like something about the disc. I've had this happen with other discs which is why I like to have multiple players. When I get about to watching all of the films I will report any oddities on this thread but must stress again that I think it is the player - not the disc. |

I have now watched four films from the boxset and can report the following:
There are 4 discs each with two feature films. Eggs/Water Easy Reach Eggs played fine, however Water Easy Reach froze around Chapter 8 on my Panasonic machine. Nothing would work to move the film from that spot so I popped it into my Sony machine and was able to watch the rest of the film. It did stop once but a press of the fast-forward button got it going again. 1001 Gram/The Middle Man The Middle Man played fine. Have not and will not watch 1001 Gram (have seen it before and don't care for it) O'Horten/Home for Christmas Home for Christmas played fine. A spot check of O'Horten did not reveal any issues but intending to watch this is the next couple of days. Kitchen Stories/Factotum Spot check on Kitchen Stories and everything is fine though I am not planning on watching the film again for the same reason of 1001 Gram. Have already reported issue with Factotum with my Panasonic player but will watch it in the next couple of days. I purchased the set for two reasons: 1) To get Blu Ray updates of O'Horten & Factotum to replace my DVDs; 2) And to get the opportunity to see the Bent Hamer films I have previously seen. |

Factotum played fine and without a hitch on my Sony player. Ditto O'Horten on my Panasonic player. Really glad I purchased the set. The restorations are very nice and it is great to have Factotum & O'Horten on Blu Ray and the opportunity to finally see my unseen Bent Hamers. Also, whilst I'm on the fence about Kitchen Stories my hubby really likes so we may watch that again having not seen it since its cinema release years ago. |
