Default Which company owns ‘Blind Side (1993)’?

Is it Warner? Which would mean either Shout Factory or Warner Archives would have to release it?

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0106426/

Several people have been bringing this one up and I would also like to see it debut on BluRay.

HBO produced it in the US, but it was released theatrically in many countries around the world.

Here are the production company details:

Not sure if this means a European country has better chances of releasing this on BluRay?

It should be with Warner currently. Hopefully they see fit to get it out through WAC unless Shout Factory is able to license it from them but it would depend on whether or not it has had recent scan.

One of the mods should move this thread to the Wish List section.

It's HBO Films, they are under Warner Bros., as of today I can't recall WB licensing any of the HBO Films catalog titles to anyone. That may change in the future, a person from WAC (Warner Archive) mentioned that the HBO Films catalog titles were on the table now however that was like a year ago (maybe COVID affected this?) but so far they have yet to release a HBO Films catalog title. I noticed that recently that the HBO Films/Warner Bros/Cinema Plus title Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter Is Dead (1991) got a new HD transfer, however that was a theatrical release and has yet to have a disc release. I would not be surprised if Shout! releases that soon.

Second Sight films in the UK is releasing ‘The Hitcher (1986)’ on BluRay, which was technically produced for HBO, but not for ‘HBO films’ which is a different company?

The Hitcher (1986) was a theatrical feature produced in a special partnership of HBO/Silver Screen Partners/Tri-Star Pictures/Thorn EMI

Domestic release breakdown (USA / North America):
Tri-Star Pictures - Theatrical run (Columbia Pictures in Canada)
HBO Pictures - Cable TV broadcast
Thorn EMI - Home Video (VHS/Laserdisc)

Silver Screen Partners (Provided financing)

To be able to be financed the rights were divided and sold by region, Universal Pictures bought the theatrical and home video rights for South America (Mexico and as UIP in Brazil), Cannon / Thorn EMI International got the UK theatrical and home video rights.

So currently the North American rights for The Hitcher are at Warners and different studios outside the North America.

Interesting… so would it be fair to say that HBO owns the USA rights to ‘Blind Side (1993)’, but different companies own the rights in European countries?
