The Meta Quest 3 can record video in 3D. There is no official application from Meta at this time, but I'm sure it will be a future feature to compete with the Apple Vision Pro.
Here are some examples. More info @ Meta: https://creator.oculus.com/create-bu...quest-headset/ Last edited by Jezmar; 10-26-2023 at 02:42 PM. |

The more features, the merrier, but do I really want to strap that thing to my face and walk around in public when there are so many more discrete and sociable ways to record 3D video.

In the future that "thing" people are afraid to strap to their faces because of what others might think, will be socially acceptable.

I do enjoy my quest 2, but there’s no part of me that looks at it and sees anything but an antiquated looking machine, much like looking back at early home computers. The quest 3 looks practically the same. It does a modern job, but certainly doesn’t look like the future of technology. Another reason I don’t think it will ever take off is that if the majority of cinema goers don’t like wearing 3D glasses, there’s little to no chance that they would prefer strapping a bucket to their faces. |

Yeah, the 3D video recording feature on the Meta Quest 3 sounds like a game-changer. I've been following the updates closely. I'm excited about the potential it has for creating more immersive content. I haven't tried it myself yet, but from the examples I've seen, it looks like it's going to open up some new possibilities for VR content creators.
It's interesting to think about how this feature will stack up against Apple's offerings. Competition usually leads to better features and innovations, so I'm curious to see how both companies will enhance their VR platforms. For editing these 3D videos, you might need a robust video editor. I stumbled upon https://www.movavi.com/imovie-for-windows/ while looking for editing software alternatives. It's user-friendly and could be a good fit for editing VR content, especially if you're looking for something that works well on Windows. |

The nice thing about Apple is you could record on your iPhone in 3D…no need for a headset or ugly sunglasses….
![]() UPDATE: Looks like Meta will allow playback of 3D video shot with iPhones! https://www.meta.com/blog/quest/v62-...port-browswer/ Last edited by Freakyguy666; 02-06-2024 at 08:46 PM. |
