Default Question - Aspect Ratios (1.78:1 & 1.85:1) PS3/Samsung
I have a question regarding aspect ratios. Don't worry, this isn't one of those "why do I have black bars" posts! Equipment: Samsung LN-T4061F 1080p LCF and the PS3. My query is, why do I not have thin black bars on discs with aspect ratios of 1.85:1? Obviously 16x9 aka 1.78:1 movies have no black bars, but I was surprised to find that 1.85:1 movies fill the screen as well. The easy answer is overscan, but I know for sure that the Samsung is set for "Just Scan", which is the setting to turn off any overscanning. So is the PS3 doing this slight overscan on 1.85:1 films? I did not see a setting in the PS3 menus to correct this, unless I am missing it.
