Having read the book, I was very cautious going in, but having just come out of seeing it, it was fantastic. Super, super impressed. Excited to see potential deleted scenes.

Exceptional film. Probably the second best of the franchise behind Catching Fire.

Right now there are 2 active pre-orders for this on Amazon that seem to be identical (the Steelbook has a third UPC that doesn't point to Amz. yet. Is there only going to be the Walmart Steelbook?)

Hoping WalMart isn't only choice for the steelbook. Large store close to me has very few 4K titles on display. Miserable selection.

Meanwhile large Target a block away had Barbie 4K on shelf. Otherwise mostly DVD's, a few blurays. Very, very sad. Just a 6 foot section of discs, that was it. About one quarter of the discs they had 6 months ago.

I’m super excited for the 4K release! TBOSAS is my second favorite film behind Catching Fire! I had an incredible time seeing this film in theater on Thursday!

This film and Catching Fire are fighting for 1st.

Was anyone else bummed when the end titles were done and there was black just long enough for the Hunger Games Whistle to sound, And it didn't happen. I'm kinda hoping they slip it in for home media. Just a perfect moment for it to sound. So I Whistled it during the lion's gate tag.

Would have also been cool for the Snake and Songbird pin to morph to the pin from the first film.

In all honesty I think the whistle would have been perfect.

Since this is Lionsgate,I wonder if one of those will be an Amazon exclusive like EXPENDABLES 4.That is a lenticular cover with two extra bonus features.

That went up the same way. Two 4K releases at the same price before it was revealed as an exclusive with a higher price.

Would be a good opportunity to also give us a new UHD release of Catching Fire that opens up to 1.78:1 for the amazing IMAX scenes like the BD. Looking at you, Lionsgate.

They seem to be math challenged.

I was referring to Catching Fire. Does the prequel have variable aspect ratio as well?

Definitely loved this one!
I have to say that I didn't know it was coming out until like a couple months ago or something, not much marketing (and even then it wasn't official marketing that I saw). I wasn't sure if it was gonna be some cheap cash in or what. I did notice it had Rachel Zegler in it and she is a really great actress and performer. The general marketing hype didn't seem quite like for the original series so still wasn't quite sure, but had some hope. And yeah, really well made, superbly acted, definitely no cheap cash grab, fully on par with the quality put into as for the first set and it kind of hauntingly stays with you. Definitely way up there right around the tops.

The IMAX had quite a few expanded scenes (I assume 1.90 is as expanded as it gets or did it go full true IMAX ratio in those theaters?). I wonder if the Dolby Cinema does too? I kind of have a feeling it sadly won't. Technically there is no reason at all it shouldn't, but it seems IMAX often manages to ink some sort of expanded ratios exclusive deals.

Yes it was shot 1.90 cropped to 2.39 then imax made a deal and they uncropped some scenes and it was awesome in IMAX. I hope the physical has IMAX too.

This will be a day 1 purchase for me. I have the 4 HG films on their original Blu-ray releases; if they release a 5 movie 4K set for a decent price, I'd upgrade the whole series.
