Pre-order pages are up at...
Walmart https://www.walmart.com/ip/Justice-L...6?from=/search Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Justice-Leagu...ps%2C92&sr=8-2 So this does seem to be a general steelbook release meaning it's not a store exclusive. One warning though.Based on the current info on the pre-order pages including the already linked GRUV, this seems to be a 4K + Digital only release. No Blu Ray disk.As we already know this year,WB dropped combo packs from their standard releases. It's 4K + Digital or Blu Ray + Digital in the U.S.(international releases have still been getting standard release combos in a lot of cases). The only way to get a combo of 4K + Blu Ray in the U.S was steelbooks or store exclusives(and sometimes with Walmart and Target it was a Blu Ray + DVD combo). I'm looking at all three pre-order pages and there is nothing about this steelbook being a 4K + Blu Ray combo.Walmart lists it as Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One - Steelbook (4K Ultra HD + Digital Copy). They have have just this and a pre-order page for a Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One (Blu-ray + Digital Copy) No standard 4K release to pre-order.Amazon is the exact same deal a 4K steelbook that is linked above in this post and a standard Blu Ray.Same deal at GRUV.Plus the GRUV pre-order lists for the steelbook Discs: 1.Target only has a pre-order for the Blu Ray release. The steelbook image above that is a combo may be from the international release(French) that showed up about three weeks ago. Maybe more info will come but if you want a Blu Ray copy of this release, you may want to be wary about pre-ordering this right now.If the steelbook only has the 4K disk, then for me,it's no good because I don't have 4k.And if the steelbook for a new release film(not a catalog title like The Fugitive or such) are going to become like their standard releases then that really sucks and is the next scummy move by WB on their physical releases this year in the U.S. 1)Putting Rocky Vs Drago only on the 4K disk and putting out the Best Buy exclusive steelbook with the 4K disk with both cuts of the film and special feature but sticking in the old Blu Ray disk that is just the theatrical release. Meaning the Rocky VS Drago cut is unavailable on physical media for anyone who can't play a 4K disk. 2)Dropping six special features from The Flash movie Blu Ray disk that are on the 4k disk. Then making one of those special feature an Amazon exclusive and putting another one on The Flash Season 9 set. 3)Double dipping on Evil Dead Rise with a bare bones release tnen a few month later with a steelbook that has two special features added but those special features are only on the 4K disk in the steelbook. The Blu Ray in the steelbook is the same bare bones release If WB is now going to make steelbooks or store exclusive of brand new films(non catalog re-releases) 4K disks only. No combos anymore even for these type of higher end releases now, then this is # 4 for their latest kick in the teeth. Last edited by Comicfan; 11-28-2023 at 12:55 PM. |

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=33599 ...OP updated now. I would guess that the SteelBook would be the one shown in the above announcement, minus the 4K Ultra HD + Blu-Ray j-card. |

I just would advise caution if you are getting the 4K steelbook also wanting the Blu Ray disk. It's fine if you don't want or need the Blu Ray disk but if you do or in my case need it because you can't play a 4K disk, you don't want to buy a release that you find that you can't watch the movie. Not unless you just want the steelbook and will buy the standalone Blu Ray disk too. But I don't buy two versions of the same release. I don't have the extra money nor want to have multiple versions of the same movie release. I like collecting special packaging but it has to have disks i can watch. That comes first for me over a limited edition packaging. This steelbook isn't a store exclusive so I don't have a problem waiting on pre-ordering a few weeks to see if updated info reveals more or clears up whether the steelbook is a combo or not before ordering the standard Blu Ray release.I mean,I waited until after the release just to be sure The Boys Season 3 and the Police Academy collection weren't stacked disks before ordering them. Yeah, I've heard that it's unfortunately even worse for you guys with the Canadian releases. On several of Robert Myer Burnette's Lets Get Physical Media podcasts he's talked about the different divisions that handle the physical media releases. That's why the international releases for many of these same titles in Europe or Asia are so much better. Completely different people at international WB home video departments from those that handle releases from the WB U.S. Then there is the Warner Archive department who are completely different from the main home video department too. Rob is always singing the praises of the head guy at Warner Archive and how they do their releases compared to the main home video people. This fellow used to run the entire home video department and Rob wishes they would put him in charge of everything again.

Walmart, and Gruv have added pictures, and it looks to be 4K only for the US:

Very disappointed in this and hope they don't start doing the steelbooks as 4K only(no combo with a Blu Ray disk) for there live action theatrical films like Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom or Dune Part II.
Oh well,I guess it's the standard only Blu Ray release for me.I guess I save a few bucks though. Last edited by Comicfan; 12-05-2023 at 05:02 PM. |
