Cool For the first time ever, 1960s weekly top 100+ film charts...

There's a guy who has a French blog called Box Office Story, who I suspect released box office chart books on Amazon with a pseudonym. He basically took the Variety magazine key cities grosses from the sixties and so on, then compiled this mythology into a chart format.

The site is best viewed in desktop mode.

In those chart books, he explained for the 1950s that even if a film had a high gross, it wasn't eligible to chart on the weekly survey if it was shown in only 2 cities. It's not a rule for the charts that began in April of 1969, though. They are 'top grossing' based. So a film featured in only 1 or 2 cities could still make enough money to reach the top ten.
