I have an older reciever, which is a yamaha and when i change the settings it comes up with an option for pro-logic I and pro-logic II. is there any difference between the two? and im guessing it's too old to play lossless audio and hd audio. any help will be well appriciated

You want to use Pro Logic II. Higher number = newer/better in this case.
A good explanation is here. In a nutshell, Pro Logic I gives you 4.0 surround sound if you have a source that can give it a properly coded Pro Logic signal (which nobody really does anymore because the format is obsolete).
