The imminent homecoming of rock star Roxy Carmichael sends the good folks of her small Ohio hometown into a frenzy of preparation. Among those anxiously anticipating this joyous reunion are Denton, Roxy's old boyfriend (Jeff Daniels) and Dinky (Winona Ryder), a troubled teen who is obsessed with the notion that Roxy is her natural mother. The town fathers are preparing a welcome. The town mothers are trying to spruce up. The high school band is practicing a fanfare, and Dinky's getting ready to leave.

I'm guessing this was a new scan created by ITV/Network since the HD transfer at places like Freevee and TubiTV is 1.33 OM. Only way this would be fooked up is if Imprint got a master from ITV that cropped the already zoomed-in 1.33 transfer into widescreen (which would loose resolution).

Has anyone received their copy yet? It appears to be "currently unavailable" everywhere in the U.S. (at least, online). However, I know it was released because one of the commentators in the bonus features posted a photo of her personal copy. So it's out there.

If you're still looking, I got my preorder a while ago from Diabolik and it looks like they still have 2 left as of this post. As the site review says, the transfer is far from spectacular but it is serviceable and I'm glad to finally get some extras and lossless sound.

This is a really disappointing transfer! Panning shots and movements are horrendous during the opening titles, and settle down, but don't go away entirely, once the titles end. Detail is okay but motion... wow. Easily one of the weakest transfers I've seen for years.

The frustrating thing is that some of the ropey footage is also included in the Jim Abrahams documentary and it looks MILES better!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. This site's reviewer didn't make mention of that panning/motion problem. I watched it last night and my heart sank and I almost decided to go back to the DVD. Thankfully, it went away for most of the movie but I also noticed that the same footage looked better in the Jim Abrahams documentary. Could it be a coding issue? Hopefully this will be picked up by some other boutique label who will fix it but sucks that I plunked down the price for this if a newer better one comes out. How did this happen? Anyone with an ounce of knowledge for producing BD should have seen this. Very frustrating. May revert back to my dvd for future viewings but when the film looked good, it looked really good.
