Default I enjoy my Xbox One (but how long will it be updated?)

I was also thinking about buying a 2nd one for my bedroom, because their super cheap where I buy mine on a sellers eBay...but my worry is they'll stop hot fixes, software updates. Which wouldn't be totally bad if it stays as is, but as we know with software things can go glitchy.

So.. just wondering if there is a time table when support ends on the One. Even though productions been over for years.

Thanks.

Millions of Wiis are still perfectly functional a decade after Ninty shut down the servers for that. I doubt XBONE will just suddenly die lol.

The major problem with Xbox One is the registration/set up process. If for whatever reason you have to reset your console after the point at which Microsoft no longer deems to run the authentication and update servers for XB1, it'll turn into a brick. Of all the consoles I've ever had, this is only a problem with XB1 and Series S/X.

Maybe if the Stop Killing Games movement leads to regulatory action, the same type of action could be applied to consoles. Would be interesting if Microsoft created a final update that removed the online requirement, I suppose it would only apply to the disc-based models though.

I hope they do patch it up at end-of-life, or maybe the modding scene might find a way.
