Default Blu rays should play on standard dvds too

Wow, didn't expect that hatred that came with the last post that someone it had to be closed. I just don't get all of you would prefer that everyone buy new discs and simply throw out our regular dvd players -- you want us all to go out and buy 399 dollar players -- what about our friends and relatives who refuse to upgrade.

I'm not asking them to sacrifice quality, if you guys don't want combo discs then maybe they can offer separate discs. I don't know. It is one of the reasons why i don't buy many blu rays and guess what -- people are not won over YET with buying high definition discs either. It was one of the perks of hd-dvd that you could play them in both your hd player and regular -- blu ray should offer this same technology, if they are indeed the better format and can hold more space, I don't see why this is such an issue?

I hate sounding like a mod...but the thread was closed for a reason...

if you're competing with DVD....why would you want people to be able to play your format on a DVD player?...it just doesn't make sense...

DVD can't compete with BD. Even DUD couldn't.

I agree with you 100% OP. I think CD's should play in cassette players as well.

They should also try packaging VHS tapes with DVD's just in case some of us haven't taken that big step into the digital world.

It had to be closed because we've had the threads before, it's been discussed ad nauseum. Use the search function, read the threads

Choose your format, deal with your choice
