DV has always worked fine on my UB820 and then the other day it just stopped. I've tried multiple discs, including ones I've watched before and used to play fine and they exhibit the same behavior. The colors are all messed up, black becomes magenta, red becomes fluorescent green, for example. I've updated the firmware to latest (v1.76) and factory reset the settings. I've also ruled out that it's something else in the signal chain causing the problem. I have an Apple TV with Dolby Vision turned on that also passes through my AVR to my LG C1 and Dolby Vision comes through fine.
If I turn off Dolby Vision in the UB820 settings, the HDR10 renders fine. The only thing I can think of is I was watching Criterion's The Princess Bride 4K disc in DV a few days ago, right before this happened, I hit "Pop-Up Menu" on the remote and then used one of the arrow buttons to navigate the menu, the picture blacked out for a moment and then came back in 480p. I ejected the disc, went to the player menu and set it back to 4K. Afterwards I put in the regular bluray to watch some special features and didn't notice anything as it's not a 4K disc. But later that night I went to watch Leviathan in 4K and that's when I first encountered the issue. Any suggestions? |
