Default Godzilla Minus One king of steel CS Series (steelbook only)

I've been scouring the web for any news on a steelbon for this, and just came across:

Release date: Originally October 2024 CANCELLED DUE TO COPYRIGHT ISSUES WITH TOHO
LINKS NO LONGER ACTIVE, LEFT FOR REFERENCE ONLY!

https://www.kingofsteelmedia.co.uk/p...book-one-click

https://www.kingofsteelmedia.co.uk/c...gle-lenticular

https://www.kingofsteelmedia.co.uk/p...cular-fullslip

https://www.kingofsteelmedia.co.uk/p...book-full-slip

Ordinarily, I'm not a fan of discless steelbons, but by the radioactive breath it was too pretty to pass up.

Small print run.

Hopefully a 4K UHD release comes out this year, to full this set with discs. Ordered!

Is he using Scanovo for these steelbooks?
(Which would make the limited number odd- Scanovo demands a minimum order of 4000 units)

These look outstanding, but I'm not willing to fork over that much money for an empty steelbook, even if it is for one of the best installments in my favorite franchise. I'll take the chance and wait to see what Toho/Janus are offering later.

Yeah, they do look nice. But I have to agree with you. Besides, if Toho allows it then I can't imagine that we aren't going to get multiple premium releases for this film. But to be honest, I'll be happy with any 4K release that includes the B&W version.

So, so many unknowns. Is this company good at lenticulars and fullslip printing effects? The back of the DL is a flip lenti, but what is the other image? Duplicating the logo/title on the front and back of the DL and the steelbook feels amateurish. All the artwork seems pretty generic; nothing hints at what (for me) was really great about the movie. The booklet looks like just still photos, no essays/concept art/behind the scenes. The one page of the booklet they show is the same image as one of the postcards. The shipping date isn't until October, and they're already saying there will likely be delays. By that point, I expect we'll have news of official releases. It's one of the biggest movies of last year—can you imagine they're not going to release it in any way they can, to keep bringing in the revenue?

All that to say, this one seems really risky. You're giving money to a new company that has produced nothing except pretty average jpegs so far.

Found this on their FB page:

Dear Customers

We have some unfortunate news regarding Godzilla Minus One.

King of Steel Media has worked very hard ensuring that projects are not only acceptable but of a high artist standard. It has been very clear from the start that the CS series is a Custom Series, unofficial and for fans of movies. Custom Steelbooks and slipcovers are universally accepted by the collecting community and many individuals have had custom steelbook businesses and have been very successful. We have done our research and as long as certain criteria is met, custom projects are perfectly acceptable.

However it seems someone in their spite has reported our Godzilla project to Toho studios as if the project is an official distribution project. It has been clear from the beginning that it is an unofficial custom and purely a KOSM original creation with only our logo, no studio logos or affiliation or even discs. We have also paid an artist to the rights to use artwork for the project! Besides this we were also making arrangements to get the distribution rights for discs.

However despite all of this, a legal representative from Toho has reached out to us and have warned us that even as a Custom project or a fan art project they forbid us to proceed with the project or face legal consequences. This is very sad news considering that hundreds of custom projects are produced by Physical media collectors each year.

We are very sorry to all those that have been looking forward to this project as much as us, however we do not wish to rock the boat with Toho studios. Sadly we will no longer be able to proceed with this project and all customers will be immediately refunded.

Wow, can't believe they wouldn't have their ducks in a row before taking orders.

Hope Toho does something official though.

Will edit the op.

Why are Godzilla fans so awful? I can think of several online accounts who would've loved to report it.
