A question about Goodfellas. - Blu-ray Forum

So I finally got to watch this on BD last night. Overall I was impressed with the picture quality.

My question is about the scene where Jimmy and Pauly are telling Henry to go back to his wife. There was a few seconds where there was a thin black line down the middle of the entire screen on one of the shots of DeNiro.

Is this a problem with the transfer or an issue with my BD, PS3 or TV?

I'm not 100% sure because I gave not watched it in a while. But I feel like that happened when I watched it too. I dunno what it is.

I want to say I know but I'm just not sure I'll check it tonight. Universals " Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas "( HDDVD) another one of my all time favorite's has this issue for about 13sec's in the 2nd Hotel they stay at in the film. NO!! Uni catalog films would pass the TRAINED EYES OF US BLU-RAY LOVERS!!! WAIT I do remember it is very faint & does not last long!!

This problem has been reported in the DVD versions as well. I believe it is an artifact from the source material. It will be interesting to see if it's still there when Warner reissues this, later in 2008. I don't see how they can get rid of it.

Thank you. I can live with it, since it is very brief. I was afraid it was my TV at first.

Although, if I had known it was getting a reissue I might have waited. D'oh!

That "blemish" has been present on every version of this movie that were released for all the various formats in the last 18 years. That line is a defect in the original master, and I doubt they will be able to remove it even when the remastered version is released later this year.
