Coming up as CDN$59 to ship to Canada, for a single optical disc of one album plus a single video. I’m priced out. Keeping these exclusive to a single retailer is not doing anyone any favours, other than Mr. Sinclair of course.

Waitaminit…I thought it was gonna be available at other retailers but that SDE has the only preorder. Did I misinterpret?

Sounds like it's an SDE exclusive based on the Pet Shop Boys website:

The only thing that's exclusive to SDE is the pre-order and the slipcover / slipcase:

Hope that helps.

Sounds pretty exclusive to me! lol

Oh it "could" become available elsewhere at a later date. If you want to bet on that happening and miss out on this guaranteed thing, be my guest!

Yeesh, I've spent a lot of money on titles I don't want to help SDE ensure this series is a success and I actually like PSB, but for CDN$60/title with Paul this week on Twitter telling me they will NEVER let release windows overlap to help folk save money by buying multiple titles at the same time, I'm tapping out unless it's a must have like Hunting High and Low and they're the only ones with the BD. I'm a bit shocked by the cavalier attitude there.

Here is the retail version from Amazon.com:

The EAN is 5054197903656 and it is available from several European and American retailers. Here it is at Deep Discount, for example:

Anyone who collects multichannel music knows that it almost never gets discounted, very little stays in print after the first run, and once it's gone the prices go way up on eBay.

As far as SDE exclusives go sure, but that's not the case for most of the new multichannel releases. Rush, Yes, King Crimson, Porcupine Tree, Pineapple Theif, Peter Gabriel, Stones, Beatles, Floyd, etc., lots of retailers gives lots of options with majority of titles in print for significant periods of time. I certainly understand the frustration for folk just getting into the hobby now looking at some of the wonderful titles from the SACD/DVD-A format war days trying to find a good price on them. I remember picking up Peter Gabriel SACDs at Best Buy in 2005 for CDN$21.99/each, seems like a lifetime ago.

I'm not talking about item discounts anyway, I'm talking about combined shipping. I combine shipments all the time to save money even if it means waiting for items. I waited some 10 weeks for Steven Wilson's newest solo Blu-ray due to Diamonds and Pearls Blu-ray getting pushed back, but I saved money. I've got the new Pearl Jam, Air Moon Safari and Big Big Train Blu-rays in my cart at iMusic to save shipping, very affordable this way and beats the pants off Amazon Canada.

I've spent US$485 at the SDE shop all on exclusives, when I suggested shipping price hikes would be easier to swallow if we occasionally saw some titles getting over-lapping pre-order windows so we could save on shipping, Paul said, "we will NEVER do that" and then cast aspersions my way for "always complaining about something".

Not great customer retention skills.

Mainstream stuff I buy at Amazon and don't worry about shipping. Most of my collection I've had to buy at high prices after the titles have gone out of print though.

Paul had that attitude quite a ways back. After Tubular Bells, I decided to buy from them only the titles that I really wanted and from them only if it were a better final price than anywhere else. No more blind buys from me with SDE. Too much disdain for the customers.

Listening now. Decent music, good production, weak atmos mix. Most songs have nothing in heights.

If people are still interested in this one, the blu-ray audio is $13.70 @ Amazon. I'll probably grab it.

Snagged it at that price, just US$20.70 shipped to Canada with no duty/import fees

Thanks!
