Shame I won't be able to add the 3D blu ray to the collection. Virtually no interest in this without a 3D blu ray release.

Same i don’t care about this if it doesn’t get a 3D Blu-Ray release and that sadly a 99.9% certainty hell might as well say 100% certainty ugh..

What a damn shame!

Hope someone will be able to make some 3D discs of selected Disney 3D titles like "Jungle Cruise", "Free Guy" and this one in the future.

Yep, sadly any movies I’d be interested in are now dead on 3D Blu ray.

Lion King cel animated converted 3D, mostly mild 3D layers.
Lion King CGI 3D 2019: Mild to medium 3D layers.

Hopefully this will have medium to strong 3D layers, unless they're just going to convert it instead of double rendering the film for both eyes. Hopefully they invest in a quality 3D conversion like Marvel most times.

At this point, with no one really manufacturing 3DTVs and digital media taking over many places, as a 3D fan, if a movie looks entertaining, I'll try to support it in 3D theaters, so I don't miss out on a potentially great 3D film, even if it's just that one time.

Back when I was a kid at a theme park, I was awed by Imax 3D theater films and Disney Ride 3D films, like Star Tours, or the Avatar 3D ride, yet I know that might be the only time I'll ever see those in 3D, but I still valued the experience of it. Remembering it to this day.

Support 3D in theaters if possible and if a film of interest, even though it won't be on 3D disc. Though it might be on 3D digital in some form in the future. If no one supports 3D in theaters, it's a clear message to producers to not bother if no one is interested, despite the interest 3D fans have in blu ray 3D and that was mostly abandoned after manufacturer's ditched 3DTVs. But thankfully 3D projectors and VR headsets in stereo 3D exist.

Even if no disc we should still get it via some type of stream/VR right?

I guess James Earl Jones will voice Mufasa when he's older in this film.

I think so, as Apple is pushing for Disney to release their 3D film library on that very expensive platform so far, digitally. Vudu a potential option too.

I haven't gone digital 3D yet, as I really want to own the film rather than rent it.
Let us download the film in 3D and that would be better, like how we can do for video games digitally on PS4 and PS5, keeping them stored on an external HDD as needed.

[Show spoiler]Man, Disney+ without 3D content for everyone really sucks. I signed it for a month to give it a try and I'm regretting for doing it.

Just watched some content that I couldn't find elsewhere and I'm done with it as it doesn't offer me anything to really watch.

I can't understand how in the world there are people that pay for this month after month and gets nothing to hold on hands and say: "I own this!/This is mine!"

If this movie gets to be in 3D at theaters here I'll watch as I did with the last The Lion King in 2019. If it will just be screening in 2D here I'll skip it like the plague.

Loved the 1994 The Lion King 3D remastering and the 2019 The Lion King 3D as well. Both have a special spot in my heart with their identical stories and slight differences and both are great in 3D although I'd give an advantage to the 1994 version as it was never meant to be done in 3D even though the 2019 has the live picture that makes it impressive.

Got an email "flyer" for Mufasa in Dolby Vision 3D at the El Capitan Theater here in Los Angeles starting December 20th.

The El Cap’s screen isn’t huge but the Dolby Vision 3D projection is fantastic. Elemental and Inside Out 2 were both lovely there. I’d spring for Mufasa as well if I didn’t already have tix for IMAX 3D @ Citywalk.

As of now there is a fight between Disney and Paramount to see which movies gonna be on what premium screens since this and Sonic 3 open same day, i believe Mufasa will get IMAX and Sonic 3 will be in Dolby cinema screens, the rest of the PLFs will be a dogfight, i.e. we were put on hold on which one to put in our PLF until further notice.

Interesting article about the director, Barry Jenkins, creating the film.

https://www.vulture.com/article/how-...or-disney.html

Seems like it will have many long takes - that should be good for the 3D viewing experience:

Quote:
There are also many long, gliding, unbroken takes that float gracefully toward and around the characters, evoking not the typical Disney-cartoon visual grammar but techniques perfected by so-called slow-cinema masters like Béla Tarr, Jia Zhangke and Gus Van Sant. Jenkins got a note from the parent company worrying that one of the long takes played a little “slow,” but there was no indication that he was required to implement it.

“We were trying to do these scenes in as few shots as possible,” Jenkins explains, “even though we didn’t have to think that way.”

A few probable pop out character moments. I hope this is an improvement over the prior 2019 Lion King 3D, which has mild to medium 3D layers most of the way, but could've been much stronger for the 3D there.

Would be nice if Disney improved their 3D to the level of the best/strongest 3D Marvel movies under Disney.

Just got out of the theater. Genuinely one of the greatest stereo presentations I've seen in a while, highly memorable and very creative visuals throughout. Lots of great sweeping camera moves with butterflies and rain all over, and stunning shots in water. Movie is good too, made me feel like a kid again.

I agree, it's both a terrific movie and also an absolutely awesome 3D IMAX experience.

There's a lot of great pop-outs throughout - especially in any scenes with birds flying high up above the ground. Also in scenes involving waterfalls.

It's a shame Disney will only release the 3D version to AVP.
