What are you talking about? There's no Region 3. There's A, B and C. And your PS3's an A.

fuad, I think he concluded Honk Kong was region "3" (C) because China is region C. So where would Hong Kong fall? With China or with Region's A Asia? From the map it seems is with China Region C...

mark.ison maybe you could try some region coded DVDs, try region 1 and 2 and 3 and see what happens?

Dvds are still the same region as they used to be. Plus it wont olay dvds that are PAL not NTSC which is kind of annoying!

yes but i meant that you can at least be sure what DVD region your PS3 thinks it is by playing region locked DVDs. Shouldn't the DVD section of your PS3 be region 6 China if the Blu-ray section were Region C china?
if it plays region 3 or 2 or 1 DVDs it probably be region A.. no?

deci, in theory that is possible

only problem i see is that regions for DVD and BR are different. so, it is possible to be region 6 for DVD and A for BR

But then in that example (Region 6 and A) the player wouldn't be the same geographicaly for both of its formats, that wouldn't make "sense".

i was just saying that the possibility exists that the DVD region could be different than the BR region

I heard that European Blueray players.. play most region A discs.
Have so me of you guys tried other way around? Region B in US blue-ray players?

Is it not possible to make the US BR players regionfree?

Fox and Disney and recent Sony discs from Region A have not been playable in Region B players.

I have yet to hear of a Region B disc that does not play in Region A players. That said there are not all that many Region B titles out there.

Thats strange, why? and not the otherway around.
So US players take region B movies and A while European BD-players only play region B.

So if i have a Us BD-player i can play both regions without problem??

Thanks

It is not clear.

While discs are labelled region B, they may not actually be region coded.

Until we see Fox discs for example, it will not be clear.

I do remember a rumour at one time that Region A could play ABC, Region B could play B & C, and Region C only Region C. But that was never formally announced that I could find.

I'm going for the Samsung BD-P1000 was thinking of the Panasonic but got the Samsung for a very good price. I hope it will work to my Satisfaction.

Anyone know of a good store that sells US region BR titles for export for a good price?
