Talking T.H.E. Cat's Kitty Cat Family Page

Here are some pictures that I've shared with a couple of forum members recently and I thought that I would also share them with everyone here. These are the feline friends that I have had throughout my life. First up is our family pet, Tiger --

This picture of Tiger was taken back in 1980 by my younger brother. My family adopted Tiger as a kitten back in August of 1964. Tiger was a very friendly orange tabby but he was extremely territorial and guarded his vast domain with an iron paw. If a dog came bounding into our yard, Tiger would chase it away for blocks.

This is Sherlock Holmes, my very first cat that I adopted after I had completed my graduate studies back in 1987. Sherlock was my detective cat because of the way he would sniff out clues whenever I had been out and about: he would check my hands and my shoes to determine where I had been and what I had eaten while out at a restaurant. Sherlock would do this same 'detective' procedure when various guests were over visiting at my place.

Here is my Kitty Cat Trio that I adopted back in November of 1997: Calvin (grey), Hobbes (ginger tabby) and Susie Q (torbie tabby). Calvin was such a gentle soul and quite the lap cat with a soft purr. Hobbes was definitely the dominant one of my trio and he thought that he ran the whole show at my apartment. There were many times when Hobbes would block my way to the front door when I had to leave for work in the morning. Susie Q was Hobbes' sister and she was a very sweet kitty who could be quite feisty at various times whenever she had to keep my two boy kitties in line. Susie Q is the smallest cat that I've adopted so far, but Susie had the loudest purr of all.

This is the feline duo that is currently residing at The Kitty Cat Condo™ - Chico Marx Cat and his brother, Harpo Marx Cat. Those of you that frequent the Kino Lorber discussion forum are very familiar with these ginger tabbies, who are better known as the "Kino Kitty Kat Konnoisseurs." Chico is a big fan of Westerns and Film Noir while Harpo favors Science-Fiction films and war action classics. Both of these cats will be seeing you on the forums! >^..^< >^..^<

Talking More Kitty Pics!

Here are some more pictures of my very first cat, Sherlock Holmes. These were taken by my younger brother at my old basement apartment back in 1989. My landlady rented this two-bedroom apartment from her own residence: I occupied the downstairs and she occupied the upstairs. But in November of 1987 I got a furry four-legged roommate who I named Sherlock! My landlady had originally had this cat foisted onto her by her daughter. Since my landlady already owned a cocker spaniel, she ended up giving me her cat.

Since I only had a few grungy basement windows, I made two perches for Sherlock so he could have a couple of small portals to look out of in order to keep an eye on things outside. The following Spring, Sherlock spotted a mouse scurrying along the other side of one of his windows. In so many meows, Sherlock begged me to let him go outside for the first time. When he ran over to the other side of this window there was no longer a mouse there, but Sherlock was so happy to be out in the open air that he began to roll around in the dirt! Needless to say, Sherlock got his very first bath once I brought him back inside for the evening.

As you can see here, I also collected some plush toy cats ... and Sherlock was not amused! The last picture is of me (when I still had hair!) holding Sherlock that was taken by a visiting friend from my hometown.

Talking More Pics of my Kitty Cat Trio!

Here are some more pictures of my Kitty Cat Trio that were all taken by my younger brother -- at my second apartment back in 2004 (first three pics) and at The Kitty Cat Condo™ in 2007 (last three pics). Unlike my previous basement apartment, this second one was on the top level and I had plenty of big windows for my kitties to spy upon the world below.

In May of 2006 I bought my very first home and I moved there along with my Kitty Cat Trio. Hence, my naming this new domicile The Kitty Cat Condo™. Unfortunately, cancer soon took away my beautiful orange tabby cat, Hobbes, and that is why he is absent from the next three pictures, which were all taken in May of 2007.

I had a cat that looked a lot like yours to Sherlock Holmes. He was very agile, could run onto the carpet on the wall and bend over the chandelier under the ceiling. And there was a black cat with a white stripe on his chest, he was very smart and diligently caught mice.

Talking Some more Sherlock pics

The three pictures below are from Sherlock's first Christmas with my family in our hometown in 1987. Sherlock had only been with me less than two months when he took a three-hour road trip with me and my older sister. Even though I had given him a kitty sedative to reduce stress, Sherlock continued to meow in protest. But after about an hour, Sherlock's meows became less frequent and a whole lot slower sounding. It was as if we were listening to a cat recording at a much reduced playback speed. However, once Sherlock and all of his kitty cat accessories had been established at the family homestead he quickly adapted to his new surroundings.

So here is Sherlock investigating our Christmas stockings, playing with one of his cat toys and lounging on a rocking chair while watching some of my siblings in the next room.

The next three pictures are from 1989 and are at my basement apartment and the surrounding residential area. Once again, all of the photos posted here (and those above) were taken by my younger brother (but I bought the film). Witness Sherlock on his special cat perch that I built for him out of apple boxes, Sherlock relaxing in the shade under a picnic table on my landlady's backyard patio and finally Sherlock striking a dignified kitty pose in the neighbor's side garden.

Talking Some more Kitty Cat Trio pics

Here are a few more pictures of my Kitty Cat Trio. All but one of these pictures were taken by my younger brother with his digital camera back in 2004 at my second apartment. The very last picture was taken by my brother in 2007 at my condo. Witness two very fine profile shots of both Calvin and Hobbes, cute little Susie Q, Hobbes catching a whiff of barbecue on the grill, Hobbes and his sister Susie Q contemplating cat things upon my fancy throw rug and finally Calvin and Susie Q relaxing on the love seat at The Kitty Cat Condo™.

Here are two short videos of 1) Chico & Harpo meowing for me to get their supper for them, and 2) Chico & Harpo crunching away at their delicious cat food.
