Default Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Didn't see a thread for this so thought i would create one.

I'm not great at formatting for a main page 1 game thread, so if a mod wants they can come in and do so.

The reason i mainly wanted to make this though is because i actually have a rant to do about this game. In recent years, CoD games have become the most ridiculously bloated crap to grace consoles. Not only do they have some of the shortest and sparse single player shooter campaigns in recent history with the highest RRPs, but they have now taken up over 100GB+. Now get ready for the kicker. BO6 wants you to have over 300GB+ free!

They want to do this whilst you are also ALWAYS connected online to play the game because of BS forced "texture streaming".

Honestly and genuinely, this is what's making me basically quit gaming. When you basically turn single player games that should be playable 100% offline and completely present on the disc from start to finish, i think it's getting time for a dinosaur like me to hang it up.

I genuinely have no problems admitting the state of gaming today is getting worse and worse from a consumers PoV. Even if you put the always online BS to one size. 300GB+ install for a single game. £/$70+ RRPs for less than 5hr experiences. Let it all go to the dogs.

Wtf 310gb!!!!

Quote:
microsoft has signaled that black ops 6 will weigh in at an eye-watering 309.85 gb, making it potentially the biggest call of duty game ever in terms of how much storage space it will take up at launch.

The black ops 6 store page on xbox.com states black ops 6’s approximate size is 309.85 gb. That’s for xbox series x and s, with sizes for the game on other platforms yet to be announced. While call of duty players are well used to huge install footprints for games in the series, and indeed the shooter franchise is now infamous for how much hard drive space it takes up, black ops 6 appears to beat them all.

I used to buy CoD religiously every year, but I lost interest in it years ago. Pretty much the only interest I've had in it recently was in the MW games, and that's purely to get the nostalgia hit of replaying the CoD4/MW2 multiplayer maps again with bots. Beyond that...nope.

Seems they are going back to their roots a little here....changing map design and bringing back the old prestige system....my interest has picked up...

I posted this in the Xbox forum but aside from being over 300GB the game will also require a full time internet connection for all game modes to stream textures to help reduce install size. It will also not require a PS Plus or Gamepass Core sub to play online.

Meh, don't really see anything different here from the last 10 years. Definitely not experiencing any "FOMO" with this one.

You mean if you followed tye trend of deteriorating game quality, increasing price and storage size?

Honestly it's a damn joke. No wonder they decided to make it Day 1 on Game Pass.

The 300 GB + file size has now been debunked. That is the file size if you also have Modern Warfare 2 and 3, Warzone and all content packs associated with all of that installed WITH Black Ops 6. They said they are still working on optimization and cannot give a final say on what the file size will be for BLOPS6 alone.

I am a little curious so perhaps somebody else that does know the answer can enlighten me a touch. When Warzone initially came out, it seemed to be a stand alone install for PS4 but because it basically relied on all the assets from one of the single player games, you needed to pretty much have the entire single player game installed too.

Then Warzone 2 came our, and i haven't played but i know they liked to link the menu to a single player title (Probably the MW2 Remake in this case) but the devs said you could split and install on PS5 so i don't know whether Warzone 2 is linked in the same sort of way.

I'll still believe it all when i see it in person, but i wouldn't bet against another sloppy sized 100GB+ install. They're ridiculously big even with this always online BS texture streaming plan.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 - Multiplayer Reveal Trailer

Favorite part about this trailer is the classic Activision logo. Also, if this game takes place in the early 90s, why are they playing Firestarter? (Probably because it’s just a game and fiction and I should lighten up.)

I think its gonna be free with gamepads so I'll get it if thats the case, but MW3 kinda sucked compared to how much time I logged on 2

50/50 on if I'd buy this based on some of the movements I've seen

Yeah, it looks like all versions of Game Pass get the standard edition of the game day one and can participate in the pre-order beta this weekend. GPU includes the pre-order bonuses, which I think are just cosmetics, not sure about the other tiers.

I hope they got zombies back on track. My girlfriend and I like to play zombies on split screen. Vanguard was pretty bad. I liked Cold War Zombies.

Sooo, did anyone play the beta? Heard nothing but good things about it, and apparently "omnimovement" is a literal game changer. Not particularly into multiplayer online games so I skipped it, but I'm getting kind of excited for the single player campaign.

I enjoyed the beta. I'm a Black Ops fan and it scratched a particular itch that has been missing and I had more fun in the beta than at any point in MW3. And omnimovement is a really good feature. Didn't feel gimmicky to me at all.

I get COD every year good or bad. I'm excited for this new movement system, map with a video store, and being able to play it on Game Pass.

I was curious and played the beta a bit this last weekend. For the most part, I had fun with it. Omni-directional movement is fine, but you can get along OK without bothering with doing the goofy sideways sprinting jump shots that it tries to train you on in the tutorial. The maps I played on all felt very well thought out for the most part. Weapons definitely feel like some balancing needs to be done. SMGs feel like they are probably the "meta" right now. The assault rifle I was using felt like absolute dog****. Whereas the LMG felt like what the assault rifles should've been like...

In the end though, I'm probably skipping again. I've played almost every single COD at launch since COD3, so you could call me a fan, but I guess I've fallen out of love with the franchise a bit. Didn't like WWII, Vanguard, or Cold War all that much and totally skipped MWIII. Maybe if reviews show the complete package to be awesome I'll come back, but I think I'll be busy on Space Marine 2 for a little bit.

I know social media clips aren't probably the most representative of moment to moment stuff but this new Omni movement looks like some pure BS on some of the ridiculous jump shot stuff i saw. If you got people running as hard and sweaty as MP is these days WITH a cross platform lobby full of PC, i don't know if long term it would help.

That said, i always wondered why they never did a full on deep dive showcasing this new omni movement and what benefits it brings or did i completely miss it?
