Default Question for guitar players in here...

Do any of you guitar players use a micro amp that plugs directly into your guitar? I'm in the market for one but I want to get one that the overdrive doesn't sound like a swarm of bees. Has anyone here had any experience with them and do any stand out from the pack? I know Fender makes one called the Micro. I think Vox is called Amplug. Thanks!

I have no experience with these but, my advice would be to do your research to get a list of what's out there and then listen to some youtube clips to see what sounds good to you. Then, get out there with your guitar and try some out to make sure you're getting the sound you want. Good luck.

While I can't offer much insight on those specific guitar micro amps – I'm more of a ukulele player myself – I totally get the quest for the right sound without unwanted buzzing! It's the same when you're trying to find the perfect tone on a uke. Sometimes you're looking for that bright, clear sound for something upbeat, and other times you want something warmer and more mellow, like what Israel Kamakawiwoʻole achieved with his beautiful rendition of 'Over the Rainbow'.

I haven’t tried one personally in a few decades, but I was considering buying one for convenience’ sake when I’m upstairs, where there are no amplifiers. I went to YouTube and watched over a dozen reviews, and found all the information I needed to make the best decision for myself (I skipped buying one entirely, but that’s irrelevant). You could check out YouTube!
