unfortunate how the TV show went through a sort of MASH effect and made the movie become overshadowed

but now all that's left would be to release the extended versions of the original episodes with the original music, but I doubt that's gonna happen any time soon

First non-franchise catalog release in 4K from Uni this year, I believe. Hope they make a habit out of it again.

Don’t remember it too well, but I’m in!

I always get this mixed up with Varsity Blues.

FNL is in a whole other league than Varsity Blues. I was also huge fan of the TV series, despite a couple of "soapy" elements in the second season.

I think this is one of the best films ever made. Terribly overlooked because it's a "football movie" even though it is based on true events and the book written about them.

Excited for this then!

I’m not even a huge football fan, but I love when football season starts up. I’m in TX, where HS football is huge. In certain cities, basketball is just as huge though! I like that fall is coming, we get a little relief from the heat about a month into football starting, and then it’s Halloween before you know it (quickly followed by the holidays)!

I'm not a sports fan at all, but I love sport themed movies. Think of FNL as a predominantly character driven drama about small town American life set against the backdrop of High School Football. It has an almost fly on the wall style with some very genuine performances from an outstanding ensemble. Given it's visual style, I'm curious to see what 4k + HDR can bring to the table but I'll be picking it up regardless.

Also one of the best dramatic TV series ever made in my humble opinion!

Fantastic Film. Now Warner needs to get going with Any Given Sunday and maybe in another world we can get The Program on BD at least

Same. The last time for me was HD-DVD, so it's been a while. Thank god Kino didn't get it, we could be have been waiting for years At least with Universal handling it, we should see it before the end of the year.

I've never seen the movie, but even though I'm the exact opposite of a sports fan, I watched the show. I'd buy a proper release of it with better encoding/quality from Universal over Mill Creek any day. Nice that this is coming out, I'll have to check it out sometime finally.

Even if Universal released it, the episodes would still sadly be the shorter NBC cuts with the altered music

Football season means that I and some of my friends and staff will have most of our "free time" disappear until February. Without the NFL and NCAA, I'd have to have found another profession to start in. My problem is the Seahawks have been my team since I was a kid, but I live...well, not in Seattle. A lot of people hate me for not putting one of two teams in cities I'm sandwiched between in the #1 slot, but loyalty comes first. And I'm actually a few years older than the Seahawks themselves. So it's the Seahawks, local team, then any underdog team which hasn't won a Super Bowl yet. Right now I'm pushing the Bills, though they seem to have slipped a bit in the offseason.

But anyway, high school football is a really, really big deal to a whole lot of people, and my brother-in-law is one of them. At one point he hadn't missed but two games in twenty plus years, and one was when his first son was born. His team has won many state championships, where my high school team was 6-4 in all of my four years there. I actually went to visit my sister a lot since I had friends and family where she and my brother-in-law live, so I saw just how crazy these fans can get. I can only imagine living in a town like Odessa in FNL. The film really nails the "football is bigger than life" mentality.

“Y’all want to win? Put Boobie in!”

All in on this one in 4k. Such a great movie. Relatable for anyone in a sport in high school/college being with your friend/teammates for one last season together. Man the ending always pulls at the heart strings. And yes Peter Berg’s next movieThe Kingdom in 4k would also be a slam dunk.
