It looks like investors want Toshiba to end it. Sony shares also rose.

Makes sense. They can get through this no problem if they give up now finally.

Will lose alot but, long term, they will be fine as always. They are a great company that will someday make great blu ray players hehe.

When a company comes out with a game plan to be profitable again, its stock value rises. You see this a lot when a company announces lay-offs and other cuts.

the stock is up over 6% now in japanese trading. if i had known all this was going to happen early friday morning (like 3 in the morning to get the trade off) i so would have bought some shares.

HD-DVD was a lot of deadweight, now that they are scrapping it, that will be a major plus for them, I can see why their stocks will rise. Though they will lose a sh%^load of money in the process.
