Default Russ Meyer coming to Blurray

I see Severin have some kind of deal to release Russ Meyer on Blurray and are releasing Supervixens.

My question is. Which uk lable would likely be in the running or have agreements with Severin to release in the UK? I can’t imagine we would have to just import?

(Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this)

Not much info yet but here’s where it came from (for those on Twitter) https://x.com/disc_connected/status/...GQgw5oZlXBkgSw

Seems legit from the digging I’ve done. Anyone know anymore?

Arrow in 2011 released a dvd Meyer collection so its not impossible to get the rights.

I am only interested in BD of Cherry, Harry & Raquel which has the most solid story and directing on any Meyer film which even the tough to please New York Times grudgingly gave a postive review.

The rights have been around here and there, getting access to the original materials was apparently much tougher. "Sure, you can have the rights, please use this old master, thanks." Severin have hopefully sorted all that out.

Severin occasionally release discs in the UK. I wish they did so more often. Even one a month would be better than once in a blue moon.

Importing is such an expensive faff. I’d rather spend my puny funds on discs rather than postage fees.

Afaik the heirs of Russ Meyer are arguing (or were arguing, if an agreement has been reached) about who of them had the rights to the movies and the original materials since Meyer did not leave any will behind. And until this conflict is (was) not resolved, none of them was willig to invest any money into doing any HD remastering of the movies.

I would really love to see a blu-ray box of Meyer's collective works from Severine, Arrow or any other boutique label.

From other threads the International side of Russ Meyer's business was closed by the Trust in 2008. I'm not sure he had any heirs, he willing his estate to a local hospital and but his assistant in charge of his Trust. Most of their expenses go to upkeep and salaries.

I'm amazed at this news. Did Severin give Cowart a very large bag of money or something? Maybe they've upscaled the DVD

Here’s an article from the Toronto Star about the ‘Vixen’ restoration:

This X-rated classic made a Toronto cinema the target of censors in the 70s. Now the filmmaker’s raunchy catalogue is getting the attention it deserves
