United Kingdom Masters of the Universe (Deluxe Collectors Edition) (88 Films)

Order: 88 Films - HMV - Amazon.co.uk

Quote:

From Saturday morning cartoon to the big screen in one muscle-bound leap, Dolph Lundgren brings an animated icon to life in Masters of the Universe. On the distant planet of Eternia the battle for Castle Grayskull has begun, and He-Man (Lundgren) must round up his army to fight off the powers of darkness led by Skeletor (an unrecognisable Frank Langella) and his horde of evil underlings. Big-budget with even bigger set-pieces, this far-out fantasy brings the henched hero vividly to life with memorable swordfights and even more memorable effects.

Darn, was really hoping there was going to be a 4K version as I picked up the old US bluray some years ago. I guess it's cool that it is officially available in the UK though (I think for the first time?).

£25? What's so deluxe about it? Apart from the price that is.

Not gonna lie, I was hoping that this would come with custom cover art made by the person who's doing their Tigon covers.

I'd say Jaws 3 and A League of their Own (which was real, btw) would have a word.

Looks to be 88's standard pricing now to get a decent slip, book and poster/art cards

Perhaps when they announce the full specs, we'll find out. Patience!

Me too, but it took me years to get past the first sequence - Skeletor spinning to face the camera scared the pants off 5-year-old me!

It’s inevitable the 4K will be coming soon. I can wait.

Same here. This is such a boutique fodder. I wonder what's taking so long, maybe they're not prioritizing it. But it's coming, no matter if one or two years.

I thought that the director's alleged past put a stop to any kind of 4K release. Which never made sense to me because there are people with comparable or worse things in their backgrounds whose films get released. I'm just certain I read it somewhere in this case. Whoever said it must not have known what they were talking about..

Hmmm. I'd pay that much for a 4K, but for a Blu that's a bit much, tat or no tat.

I doubt that would stop such a release. Unless Mattel perhaps has a say in it? Can't imagine it meaning much to MGM, who releases Victor Salva movies, or WB.
